is there a rule of thumb to follow for differences between the fender guitars?
like what is the difference between the strat and the tele and the squire etc

is it just a comfort thing, a sound thing?

i am a beginner in search of a new guitar, not sure what i want or whats best for me, ive been playing around with acoustic for about a year now but my heart was always in the electric guitars

fenders usually have better quality and craftsmanship than squiers.... they also have better hardware and pickups and such... a custom shop fender is generally the best quality, then the american made, then the japanese made (although you won't find many unless on ebay), then the mexican made, which are still great guitars.... a stratocaster has a more clean feel to it than the more crunchy sound of the telecaster... those are just some basic guidelines, but they key is to really get yourself a price range and try as many guitars in that range as you can until you get one thats right for your style of playing and feels right to you

Are you sure about that order??? You can't put japanese before mexicans. The mexicans have at least an american neck, which puts them ahead of the japs.
