Even if you only find time for it on weekends while you're in school, don't let go of your love of music and playing the guitar. You'll regret it if you do. Music is timeless, and at the very least, when you're old and gray and no longer able to work, you'll be able to play your guitar for relaxation and enjoyment.

If you play even moderately well, you already have a talent that many people do not possess. Don't give up on that. With time and practice, you'll improve. One day you'll be able to teach your kids and grandkids how to play.

DON'T GIVE IT UP!!!!!!!!

I am one of the many who gave up playing to work, raise a family, etc. In 2000 I picked up a guitar again for the first time in over 20 years. I should never have put it down.

After you get settled in with a work/school schedule find time to play.

I have to say, that while school can seem overwhelming, there is always some time in the day to pick up the guitar and play. In fact, I think you will find that taking 15 minutes here and there to pickup the guitar will be relaxing and very helpful.

Your guitar is also a good way to make new friends. Good luck with your studies, but don't forget to relax and enjoy life - even if it is only 15 minutes at a time.

Dude,
Avoid the mistake of "life gets in the way" There are a fair number of us that let that happen, Trust me you'll turn around and be fifty years old...Where did it go?
Make time for your passions...Always

Good Luck, and keep playing

Bill

PG! I must agree with all of the above posters! If something is that important to you, you will make the time to play. Not only that, it is tremendous stress reliever! There is nothing better after a really rotten day than the relax and play guitar. I think you will find it more of a help than a hindrance!

Guitar.

Seriously don't put it down. In five months you won't see it as a big problem like today. Don't go to the dark side. 8)

Two words: Time management.

There are 24 hours in a day...Work and school 8 hours, sleeping 5-7 hours, so that still leaves 9-11 hours a day to find time to play.

I put mine down for almost ten years before picking it back up. I wish I never did. I'd say take it with you. Find time (like on a weekend) to play just a couple hours a day. Purchace a HSC with a lock if you do not already have one and a small amp for the dorm/room/apt you are going to be living in. At least keep the skills you do have from getting rusty. BTW chicks love the guy with a guitar who plays them music.

Yeah when life slows down again...play more often. Concentrate on school when it is school time...play when its play time. Smell the roses when you can.

Make and take the time, some day before you know it, you will be old, and will only wish you had the time back.

I'm 15 gonna be 16 now, and I'm in school too. I know this probably isn't as time consuming as your education is, but I'm getting the highest level of education (gymnasium) at my school, with ancient languages and stuff, and sometimes I'm quite busy too...
But what I've learned is that you can't learn all day, and if you do, information just won't stick...
so, between every 2 hours you could grab the guitar for 15 minutes, play and relax, then pick up your books again, that way the information will get in your long-term memory.

Hope this helps you out.
