The acid from my fingers blacken the steel strings on my guitar very quickly. Is there a particular type of string or brand(s) that will tolerate the acid better?

Soap and water.

Often.

That's for your hands.

See your doctor.

Hi Jeb, and welcome to the forum. There's no magic formula really.

Wash your hands thoroughly and dry them off before you play. Wipe down the strings with a clean cloth after you play. Change the strings every month or so.
