People are always tellin' me to play another brand of guitar because Fender sucks... I just tell them "Well... I've played others. (Gibsons, Schecters, Ibanez) and Fender is my favorite no matter what.. Doesnt mean that all others suck... Its all in personal preference to me. Anyone else have this problem?

The best one i heard was "fenders only sound good with a load of effects". To which i replied what do you play? He answered with "A PRS". Nice guitar i said, but havent you noticed that the majority of humbucker users favour gain? Whilst a lot of fender players like straigh clean sounds with maybe a touch of reverb or trem. "Gain or drive are not a effect" came the reply. :?

Not an effect? Ssuuurrreee, lol. I love using reverb... I also use an original Ibanez tube screamer with my Fenders :) My friends all have Les Pauls, PRS, and Schecters.... and they LOVE the heavy metal.. Well I do to... but thats not what I play usually through the fenders. Sure there are some effects here and there but its usually all clean.

Don't listen to those who feel the need to put down one brand in order to make their brand of choice seem better.

If Brand A is crap, it doesn't automatically make Brand B better. Brand B could be bigger crap.

SO if you're going to discuss which brand is better, then discuss why your brand is best--without putting down the others.

Me?

I have Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Simon & Patrick, and a couple of student brands in my guitars.
And I have Fender, Roland, Traynor & Garnet for amps.

I feel no need to trash brands I don't have to make my brands better.

But I will tell you why I like Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, Simon & Patrick, Roland, Traynor & Garnet.

Man, I hear that!! For a guy who cut his guitar teeth on Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, I'm amazed that my latest offerings fit somewhere between Lounge and Smooth Jazz.

Yeah i was playing speed/death/noise/grind metal 2 years ago and regularly gigged a ramones/uk subs type punk band. Now i feel dizzy if i play too many 6ths :D . God knows what i'm gonna be playing when i hit 40. Twinkle twinkle little star would be my best guess

+10 on that one.

I have an ibanez I love, well except I have grown to hate the Floyd Rose. but that's just cus it seems such a hassle, compared to all my other guitars.

granted it is an 86, so they might be less hassle now. do you still have to cut off the ball ends, and clamp the strings in?

My friend has one on his Schecter... I think you still have to cut the ends off but im not entirely sure. I'm not a big fan of Floyd Rose Trems... too much of a hastle for me.
