First of all: yes i´m happy, that this time also overseas Fender fans can participate. And im feeling very comfortably with the fact, that Fender offers the competition only to forum members, because this ensures that the winners will use their prizes and not sell them.

I´m posting this thing right in, because in the last months here in germany you could participate in lots of competitions of Fenders competitor G***** (or their budget mark E*******). And most of these competions/raffles/lotteries were placed in non musican media. For example to do some cross promotion for the Jägermeister RockLiga Tour or the DVD "Juno".

Ok i´m sure some guitarists are frequently drinking Jägermeister or buying academy awarded dvds; but the chance that the winner will be a guitarist and use his prize instead of earning some bucks with it are relatively low. G***** seems not to care about this fact; their goal appears just to do some product placement in a high attention surrounding. So my questions is: am I the only one who is thinking G***** is not a musical instruments company any more. To me it seems they are just doing marketing & sales with their history.

What do you think?

Kind regards from germany
M.

Welcome to the forum singlecoilsplease!

I spent one and one half years in Kitzingen many years ago.

Good luck with the contest!
