yeah, i know... it's just that they're kind of hard to find... especially where i live... down here, if you happen to even own an electric guitar, you're kind of looked down upon... oh well, i was always the one to do things differently...

I played bass for an alternative, post-grunge band in the 90's. At one gig, an attractive woman made her way to the dance floor and spent the next two or three songs flirting with me while I played. Obviously, there was some serious chemistry between us. Eventually, she motioned me to her side of the stage with a "come hither" look and beckoning finger. I leaned into her. She said, "Can I ask you a question?" Expecting a proposition, I said sure. Then a ton of bricks fell: "Is your singer married?"

grrrrr.....

Why do they look down upon guitarists???

They must live in Iran or something, cause playing guitar makes you want to have sex or something??? :?

 Man if that would've happened to me, I would've come unglued all over her $@!. I probably would've been thrown out and told never to come back.

On the other hand, if he would've been married, I would've pulled a good one like: "No, he's not married, let me give you his phone number". I would've given her his wifes number and said call anytime, he'd love to hear from you. hehehehe lol

i find it amusing, i was at a campfire last night and a few girls were there.... there were so much more impressed by me playing hey there delilah which is just simple chords rather than little wing or some clapton.... i suppose a lot of them aren't exposed to much than pop though, considering they didnt even recgonize stairway.... i never realized how much simple songs that are popular could impress people so easily

Overplaying is overrated...a good chunk of the hit songs ever written are just chord based strummers using 1,6m,4 and 5 of a Major key. People like things simple and relatable. " Hey There Delilah" is a hit because it's easy to follow, and alot of people can relate to it.

BTW, Isn't that almost a complete rip off of an old Simon and Garfunkel song anyhow?

As a bass player I appreciate a good rhythm guitarist, and am usually more impressed by them then whoever's up there wanking away on an overblown solo.

I Went to a pretty big Arts and Music Fest this weekend a few towns away. Saw this girl with an acoustic guitar and she blew me away. Well played relatable songs, great technique and tone, and a really good voice. Then again, she was pretty easy on the eyes which didn't hurt either.

i'll agree with you, simpler things are usually better.... more "emotional" playing as well... i personally can't stand shred, it doesn't really prove anything to me besides they can play fast and use scales, other than that it doenst really sound good to me for some reason most of the time

well, i don't exactly know... i live in a very conservative town in the deep south... over here, people just get stereotyped into "those da,m punk kids" and there's sort of a double standard too... if a guy picks up a guitar, it's, "oh, that young man's got talent." if a girl picks up a guitar, it's, "what does she think she's doing?" oh well... like i said... i do things the difficult way...

oh by the way... to all of The Unexpected's myspace friends... DEMOS EXPECTED AROUND CHRISTMAS!!! oh, and i would highly recommend my friend's band... it's called Her Sweet Autumn Misery. They're really good. anywho... just keep checking

I am a girl with a guitar. Have found that guys who otherwise wouldn't have the nerve to introduce themselves will come over and "talk guitar" as an ice breaker.

You'll get women by being charming, funny, and considerate whether you play guitar or not.

My wife loves it when I am playing the guitar...then she knows where I am. she comes to all my gigs, I have the girl I want! She just doesn't seem to understand why I always want more guitars..then I tell her better a guitar than drugs, gambling, booze or other women!

It's been my experience that being married isn't much of a hinderance for singers sex lives. Or is it drummers......??
