This may seem over-rated but mines got to be Eric Clapton

He may not be the greatest Strat player ever, but my guilty pleasure is Dick Dale. Plus, SRV grew up playing blues, rock & surf music. SRV is even in that horrid film "Back to the Beach" with Dale pounding out "Pipeline". If that's not instant cred, I don't know what is.

I'd say either David Gilmour or Mr. Slowhand, love both their styles, from David's angelic screams, to Clapton's steady rythyms.

Clapton, Gilmour, Yngwie etc. All the tops, but I have to say, I have a friend in Ontario who plays a telecaster. Totally by ear, and he can mimic each of them to the T. So, Ill take Gary McGill, because he can do it all :)

They're not exactly shredders, but the band The Hives from Sweden seem to be an all-Fender band, and they're my favorites at the moment - that's what I want to learn to play next, that "three chords and the truth"-style rock and roll.
