What would be the BIGGEST difference between a Squier tele (Standard) and a mexican made standard tele? Trying to figure out which one gives more bang for the buck.

hi welcome to the forums
I don't see a bid difference between those two but I think that the mexican tele will satisfy you because I had one long time ago and it's not so bad.

MIM Tele is better it has a Alder Body and the Squier has a Agathis also the MIM has better pots, pickups, tuners there is a big difference.

One big difference is that you shouldn't have any trouble keeping the Mexican tele in tune. That may not be the case with the Squier. But whichever one you get, play the heck out of it, hone your chops, and trade up to something really cool!

Personally, I have noticed no difference. I have a Squire Jazz 70s Vintage bass and it never goes out of tune and sounds awesome. In addition, I have a MIM Fender Stratocaster and no problems with that one as well.

All in all, excellent products!

Go with the Mexican Tele. I had one some years back. It was magic! Because I joined a band that needed something other than classic tele tone, I sold it to finance purchase of a strat. The strat is a wonderful guitar that I still have. It's tone is sweeter than the tele's and it's overall a much more versatile (sp?) guitar. I still miss my tele! Selling it was a huge mistake.

Unless things have changed, you'll find more difference between the Mexican instruments than you might expect. Play every one you can lay your hand on. There's one out there that will sing for you. Go for it. Who knows, you might even stumble across a certain battered old cream colored ax that given half a chance, can growl like a rottweiler wail like a banshee and sing like an angel...
