Unseasonably warm here in the foothills of northern California. 72 degrees at 2,500 foot elevation. And we had a White Christmas!

Miami is going to be 49 tonight. That's kind of cold for us.

Although it got in the 30's some years ago.

Why don't you come to R.I.? We're suppossed to have 0 degree temperatures tonight and tomorrow evening. 49 degrees ain't nothing.

No thanks, I'll wait till summer. I used to live close by, I think, in New Jersey. I was born in NY state. All I remember is the snow piled up on the sidewalk with the garbage cans and whatever else found its way into the pile.

I think you better come this way for the winter.

When I lived in Rochester, NY, I had a friend who was a recruiter for tech firms. They'd go up to MN in the dead of the winter on recruiting trips and they'd invite people to "move south for the winter." Of course, it would usually be a nice balmy 25 F in Rochester but when compared to MN ... let's say he claimed their "move south" pitch sometimes worked!

Meanwhile, its been pretty warm here in SoCal - LA area. We've had highs in the 80s since last weekend. Lows have been between 49 and 50. It's 73 right now at 6:20 PM and a low of 49 is expected.

Where my parents live (near Utica, NY) they had a high of 8 today and they're expecting a low of -11 tonight. It hit -2 last night.

(In fact, they live up on a hill out in the woods. Their actual temp will probably be more like -14 and if there's any wind, even less when counting the wind chill.)
