Just look'n for some sympathy from my Fender friends.

The impact of the economic decline has hit my business like a ton of bricks !!! and the limited resources are being divided every which way but mine.

So here I am 42, teenage kids and a mortgage and in need of employment.

Ya I know I'm not alone here, does little to stop the sting of it all.

I did retail management for around 17 years before my last six as a Bail agent, however retail is dead right now too.

Any good economic lcations out there ???? I'll move in a minute to find green fields.

Thanks for letting me whine.

You fit right in with my existing thread... Jobs Lost?

Check out what's going on there and see all the other folks out of work and what is being said.

ALSO... I am sorry to hear your bad news... I have been out of work since January of 2008! A whole year of searching for a job... applied to over 40 jobs last year. .. and still no luck, especially with it getting worse, now.

Be well my friend.

I have such sympathy over this. My sister-in-law and her husband are getting into terrible trouble - falling into arrears on the mortgage, borrowing money at silly interest rates, red bills arriving. The husband is in the construction trade - or rather he isn't. He's the hardest working man I know but he can't find anyone to build so much as a garden path for.

If I knew an answer I'd tell it far and wide...

Good luck to all at this difficult time - C

Dude, like I told all the other unfortunate people in the "jobs lost" topic,
I'm really sorry for you. I hope you'll find a job soon.
If you're really really desperate, you might find a job in
Europe... but that's ofcourse a very big risk.

the best of luck to you.

Unfortunatley for us Americans, most countries stop handing out Work Visa's in times of Economic Peril. And I'm pretty sure that the Netherlands couldn't handle the influx of 2.6 Million out of work American Refugees.

Semi jobless here. I pick up a few bucks here but I am just managing to scrape by. As far as I know there is no greener pasture.
But just in case; how good are you with Spanish and pole vaulting?

A friend's employer went out of business at the end of 2008. After four days of searching Craigslist (of all places) he landed a great job in his field of autocad design for better money and perks!

I think employers are starting to see that they can get some good results for free ads on CL ?

For example :

Wow that sucks. I am not sure about the sales or retail management fields are in my area is...but Houston is still doing well (for now). I would hate to tell you to come here and see how you do just to have you hit the bottom though. Google your career (s) for anywhere you may want to go to see how the climate is. Best of luck.

Thanks for the support !!!!

But hey my bills are all payed up for a month or two and my mortgage co. just sent me a check for overpayment from last year and e-bay has been good to me the last couple of weeks.

so far just extra gear by the way !!!! I did sell off the CT and I know I'll regret it soon enough, but hey I have all I need in my Blues Deville and my G-dec with the pretty wood cab.

I'll admit it here publicly, Bail Bonding is a huge rip off and takes advantage of inocent family members, I have hated taking peoples last dime knowing what a waste it was.

The courts need to switch to cash bonds on all but the highest flight risk people and stop wasting good peoples money making them pay it to low lifes like me. (I tried to be good to folks) the business is just a farce in my opinion.

Let them use their bond money on cort costs and such.

and so, God will provide for us, of that I am sure !!!!

When other countries need help, the first thing they question is why America hasn`t helped out. But when the American people need help, these same countires are nowhere to be found. Don`t we ever learn to take care of our own first ?

Yeah, look what our country has done for New Orleans(a major American city) You don't hear about it on national news anymore but it looks like part of Iraq!! Just a small amount of the high dollar and tourist spots have been addressed. It's a shame how long it took for any help! One idea for out of work construction people may be to take a look at going to New Orleans and the Mississippi coastal areas! I hope you all find employment soon! God bless!

Yes Jeff I have given it some thought.

I was a CPR instructor for the Red Cross and a first aid instructor also.

I also served as a first responder on a local Fire dept.

That was yeras ago, like 25 or so.

I am also considering corrections work as I am used to dealing with those folks anyway.

either will be a huge cut in my income !!!!

I was a retail manager for around 17 years before bonding, retail is in the dumpster right now too.

Again something will come up, we will just have to make adjustments in our living and spending.

Hi Blues Bondsman, I have the bad habit to overdo things like that so this time I'll keep it simple. I faced the same situation fifteen months ago and I can understand what you're going through. I wish you good luck. Lots of Mojo.

I feel for Brother I am kind of in the same position. I was laid off because I did not want to go back over sea to a war zone as a contractor again for the umpteenth time in 5 years. I just wanted to stay near home and work and it did not go over well tho they did not say that was why the cut back. The on site rigging crew was reduced from 8 to 5 so who no's. I Managed a Electrical supply and a Home Depot in the past but for some time now I have been doing Tower and Crain work ( High Steel crains, Com. towers, Mil Rigging jobs) last time overseas I got a bad infection and ended up back home in the hospital then laid up at home for some time.
