Just wondering what people thought about this new collection from Fender.

haha, definitely checked it out from the link on the fender homepage and watched the videos and what not. I do very much enjoy the look of a completely thrashed fender. It just screams "I have character." But, I don't really like the idea of purposely doing that to a guitar. Yea, it looks cool, but you didn't do it yourself over time. I just can't wait til the day my little guy looks like it fell down a mountain side...because of me.

I saw about 6 of them in a local Guitar Center the other day. Fender did an excellent job on them.

Although Personally I would not purchase one I'm sure they will be a big selling guitar.

I am sure there is a market for these types of guitars and Fender will sell a bunch of them. I just prefer a new pristine guitar.

Just think of it as a Fender Mexican Custom Shop instrument. A somewhat affordable one.

I hate to say it but I whille im not the biggest fan of relic instruments, the playability of the road worn instruments is phenomenal. I wish fender would offer the 6105 frets on the Classic player 50 strat but oh well. I couldnt beleive the tone I got out of the tex mex pickups which are suprisingly vintage sounding even though I thought they would sound more like texas special. The cons of this guitar is that it is basically a jimmie vaughan strat with better frets and nitro finish. This guitar gets especially good tone to have somewhat budget pickups.

They are well done and look as they should.

Personally I would not buy one, I am apparently quite capable of bashing up my own instruments (unintentionally) .

If I do It, each ding and scrape has some meaning, even if it is only Oh-C*** I did it again :D.

I havent had the opportunity to try one yet. However, i dont see the point of them. I thought the whole point of having a worn guitar is that it was the owner who let it become worn from playing etc..
The idea of buying a pre worned guitar, to me is a little like cheating.

On a further point, I was just wondering how many more variants is there going to be on the tele and strat? I can understand improving them with modern technology and keeping the American Vintage series going, but i do believe that too many variants of this is going to cheapen the brand through simple market over saturation. A new design would be nice for the nearly new century!

Just my opinion!

I got the chance to play some at GC the other day and they do feel like an old friend when you play them. Fender did an excellent job on them.

To each their own preferences.

Fender marketing has to continually find new ways to sell products. It is a business, after all is reduced to the basics.

depends on the guitars - the neck, the pickups ..... but i think that it's a nice idea to do that. The Blues President
