When describing a Strat, I say "round" or "springy".

When my tone is happening the way I want it to be...there's only one way to describe it:

Sonic Sex

I'm glad this thread popped back up because I just found out the name for the tone I like, after experimenting with a friend's amp:

"chimey"

Observing tone, when I have to EQ a sound system, at the point I concentrate on a single voice, I have to be able to hear treble, mid, and bass frequencies in order to adjust.
If you can't hear it, you can't adjust.
Guitars are the same, you have to hear all three, or you're clueless when it comes to setting your tone controls.

I've always preferred to lower mids when it came to overall PA system sound, voices and guitar.

Mids are the culprit when it comes to muddy sound and feedback.
Once you clear things up, the sound carries farther.
