I think I would be hard pushed to find a better Strat, than my David Gilmour Strat. An outstanding instrument, if I find one better, I'll be sure to let you know :D

The best one for me would be the one that practically plays itself when I pick it up, that ideas flow out of, that has great tone, that I can play all day on and not have to think about what I'm playing - it just comes out. And I already have that guitar - customized 98 mia strat. It's like part of me, I love that thing.

If I had to spend a lot of money and get a really cool Strat, it would probably be something I'd have the custom shop make me. Something like ....

http://www.wildwestguitars.com/fender/p ... strat.html

Some cool unique color like that blue, maybe a chrome orange, some custom lindy frahlin pickup, locking tuners, bone nut, custom radius (maybe compound radius) neck, etc. Something around 8k or so.

Lower than that, a Jeff Beck is nice, love the player and the guitar. Eric Johnson strat is nice. Greg Fessler did a NICE job in the custom shop of that gold 64 sparkle strat.

Maybe a vintage one from the early 60's or so..

I like the Make'n Music Master Player Series. Though, I would just want NOS instead of Relic'd.

For lower amount of cash, I also like the original Jeff Beck Strats, they had a fabulous neck.

Not the most expensive out there...but if I had the money I'd get the Fender American Vintage LTD '57 Thin Skin Nitro Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Besides a special order Custom Shop Strat
Sienna Burst With TS Pickguard, One-Peice Rosewood Neck w/Maple Skunk Stripe and SCN, or Hot Noisless Pick Ups, I'd say a Fender Custom Classic Stratocaster in Honey Blonde

What helped convince me it was a good deal was the owners command of spelling. Oh! And don't forget the note!

Hehe.

Wow, that is a totally beautiful guitar. I am talking to my bank manager about how to get together the $35,000 asking price and make that guitar mine immediately.

It's the sheer history of it that attracts me. Like the guy says, its aintchint. That was the dealmaker for me...

:D - C
