I just got an e-mail from The Perfect Guitar that read:
Quote:
If you've been GAS’ing for a new Fender guitar, right now is the time to buy!  On February 1, 2009 prices on ALL Fender products will be going up.  How much?  To give you a taste, an American Deluxe Strat will be $1,600.00!

Guess I'd better go buy that Jazzmaster sooner rather than later... :?

I was talking to a shop salesman this morning and he mentioned a 40% increase, having something to do with neck construction but didn't say what the exact reason for this hike.

I wish Gibson would come out and explain thier reasons why. Oops, did I say Gibson? I meant Fender...

What happens if Feb 1st comes by and there's no Hike? I'm not sayin the Rumors aren't true, but they are Rumors. It doesn't make sence that Fender would Hike it's prices 40% one month into the Fiscal Year, after already Publishing it's 2009 MSRP List, Right after the launch of a Major new line of Worn Guitars. The only buzz about it is in Guitar Forums, if it was real the buzz would be on Wallstreet.

I'll make a Bet, if Fender's Prices go up 40% on Feb. 1st, I'll learn a Poison Song and put it on Youtube. If they go up 10%-39%, I'll make a Three Piece "Row Row Row Your Boat" video (Acoustic, Electric, and Mandolin). If they only go up 1%-9% I'm not doin' anything but saying, "Guess I was Wrong".

Brad, can we make this post a sticky for a few days, please?

Till this moment I'd been hoping the rumours were wrong. But now...

I'll let popular vote decide which of these three songs I'll do,
Talk Dirty To Me, Nothing But a Good Time, or Unskinny Bop.

I really hope the Rumors are wrong :|

Why, lord, why?
Now I'll be waiting till the fender marketing people find out no-one is buying their stuff anymore until they do a HUUUUGE price drop...
At least that's what I hope will happen!
Otherwise it's not very likely my second guitar EVER will be a fender

Quick, Jerm, quick! This is the one you're after:

http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~nam ... D~6567.asp

For some reason it's cheaper with the maple neck:

http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=6574

And with the exchange rate where it is those prices are almost exactly the same in Euros - advantageous to you. Time's running out - order before the price rise!

Cheers - C

i know it's outrageous, but there are a few cheap ones on guitarcenter.com that's where it got mine, and that'll probably be the cheapest you'll find them

I too heard about the price increase across the board with all Fender products effective the 1st of February from many employees at Guitar Center (Metrocenter Mall in Phoenix, AZ) yesterday. According to them it's because of the economy ie: all the different woods and whatever else Fender uses to make their products has increased for them. The guys at Guitar Center told me it was going to be a 30% increase on all major products like all instruments and amps. It was their advertised Customer Appreciation sale that day from 7pm to 9pm and I had a $50.00 off coupon on any purchase over $350.00. I had my heart set on the Epiphone Masterbuilt Acoustic, but something drew me to the Strats...I have no idea what it was. This was before I even heard about that Fender price increase from they guys at Guitar Center. I saw the 3 color burst with the maple neck and fell in love with it. A sales guy came up to me asked me if I needed any help. I told him, "Cut me a deal on that American Strat and I'll take it home right now." After about an hour of wheelin' and dealin' with the sales guy and then the store manager. I walked out with it for $767.75! Not too bad for an American Strat with a cool case to boot! After I bought it that's when they told me about the price increase on February 1st from Fender. I guess if this price increase is true, I just happened to have bought my first Fender just in time! I think now I know what drew me to the American Fender Strat........

I was in Sam Ash today, and they had the Fender price increases displayed. And it's pretty steep. It also includes Squires... all the way down to the Jam Packs... But, we'll see how it goes. Only time will tell if the prices stick.

Sam Ash was crowded today, but it seems like they're not as stocked as they were this time last year.

What did the Signs in Sam Ash Say? I wonder why it's not mentioned on Sam Ash's web site. If it's in their Stores, that means that Fender went Public with the Increase, so I wonder why it hasn't been discussed in any Finacial Publications. Ya know, a 30% increase in any Major company would make a big noise on Wall Street (Heck, if Bras were going up 30% Wall Street would know it).

Something about this just doesn't ring true. It has a Very "Y2K" feel to it.

This is probbaly not going to have a very good effect on the small fender dealers like the one in my area.
He usually only keeps one U.S. fender in the store at the time along with the mexicans and squires.
The U.S. tele he has has been hanging there for two years at $1250.
Hard to beleive its going to move any faster for $2000.
For every U.S.57RI they manage to sell for $2500 it would be interesting to know how many they DONT sell that they would have for $1250.
Hope it evens out for them.
