WOW  !!!!!!! I didn't even pay attention to this thread cause I thought it would be like $60-$70 bucks. I was just on Sweetwaters site and about fell outta my chair. I bought a new AM Standard around 95 or 95 for right around $600. I'd say the cost of the Stratocaster inflated at about the same rate as oil.

They might just price themselves right outta buisnessat this rate.

Sweetwaters prices went up yesterday. A Champion 600 went from 200. to 260. yesterday.

Scored a new Vintage Hot Rod 52' tele before the prices go up!

I see alot of discussion, and it is certainly a big jump, but maybe we have been enjoying the efforts of Fender not increasing pricing for awhile and now they must, as opposed to just deciding that this year they are gonna cost more. I do not know, but Fender still makes some nice stuff, stuff I like, stuff I would buy, and stuff that even after the price increases will be a better value than the Gibson stuff.

Really a $250+ increase on American Standards? Now an American Deluxe is up in the $1700 range...that's just crazy. No way Fender is hurting that much.

I'd say they are taking cues from Gibson, who ups their prices every year. Sad, as Fender has always been the working man's guitar company. Now that MIM "road worn" guitars are nearly $1000 with NO CASE, I guess they figure people will pay a lot more for an "American" guitar...
