Okay, i'm thinking about getting a Highway One some time, and i've read many reviews on it on different sites. What i got was very diverse. Some people loved it and gave it a 10/10 while others gave a 1/10. Some say that it easily gets out of tune even after adding springs and locking down the bridge. And people also said it was frustrating to tune.

I just want to ask fellow Fender players, is it a good guitar or not. I mainly play rock, in all forms. And how would going from a Squire strat to the Highway One be with the jumbo frets? Give me some direction here, as i've only ever played the Squire and the reviews aren't really helping.

Thanks for the help.

First I ask this, were a majority of the reviews positive? If so, take that into consideration. If most of the reviews are positive with a couple negative outliers, then theres a good chance it is a good guitar and a couple people just got some bad parts.

Another thing is that Fender is Fender. Its hard to find a fender thats a piece of junk. Obviously a squier and a custom are going to have quite a difference in quality, but thats why the price differs. Fender also is pretty good about fixing problems with their guitars under warranty.

I bought my 60s strat almost 3 years ago and just this summer my guitar shop found that my neck had been warped so slightly it was never caught by shops I'd had it at before I moved. The shop worked with Fender, they sent me a new neck...for free of course...and everything is cool.

You should really just buy what you feel right buying is what it comes down to. If you are leaning toward a guitar, you are obviously leaning towards it for a good reason.

Also, about the frets, I wouldn't think a move to jumbo frets would be painfully significant. What I notice about jumbo frets is that it's a bit easier for me to bend strings but a bit less fluid when I slide between notes. But nothing that prevents me from playing what I'd want to play.

Hope this excess of words helps in some way.

What it comes down to is you need to go find one at a music store so you can check it out for yourself ...

USA made, reasonable price, with a nitro. satin finish that can be buffed to shine.

If are comfortable with the guitar, what is there not to like about it.

oh yes, this topic reminds me:
why is this 6 string so much cheaper than the other us made ones? I like this price, and am wondering if there is any reason why they reduced it for this model line.

I own a '07 Highway 1 Stratocaster and love it. When I bought it it was the best guitar I had ever known and still is.

My only complaint with mine is when I started using my tremelo bar a little more often I noticed my G string would not always go back to the correct position. All my other string did. I am in the process of changing my tuners to the Fender/Schaller locking tuners to see if that corrects that issue. I have another post on that issue.

As long as I do not use my tremelo, my guitar stays in tune for days.

As far as the jumbo frets are concerned, love them. And I did not have any problems learning to play on it. While I was in the store I played several guitars and when I finally found "the one" I wanted I sat and played on it for about a half an hour. After that I coulod do anything on that guitar that I could on my B.C. Rich Warlock (which I used as a trade in) and my ESP LTD.

I highly recommend them to anybody who wants a good MIA Fender and are not looking to spend $1000 doing it. I like the dull Nito finish and large headstock. It gives it that old time look. Also with time it will "relic" nicely over time. Pups are pretty decent (AlNico 3). I got the SSS to keep the true Stratocaster look.

I can play Blues, Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, and Alternative music with it...very versatile instrument.

As always, play it before you buy it. I played one when I was shopping, and I didn't care for it at all. The only benefit, to me, over the Deluxe Players Strat I ended up buying was the nitro finish.

The superior pickups, better looks, and seven pickup combinations of the Mexican Strat outweighed the nitro and "Made In USA" sticker, to me.

Again, that's my opinion, and plenty of people love their Highway One. I just didn't like it.

I'll also say - try not to get caught up in the "Made In USA" hype. It's true that many of the best guitars are made in the United States, but I'll take a high-end import over a low-end American guitar nine times out of ten.

I own one and have had 0 problems so far. It works for almost any type of music. I agree with the replies above, that you should play it and if it sounds good to you, buy it. The jumbo frets do work really well for bends. I bought mine used, and after changing the strings, my other 2 guitars are collecting dust  Good luck and please send pics if/when you get it!

If it is only the G string you are having problems with i reccomend that you check out the nut before you change tuners the G string may get stuck in there becouse it's to tight....

Thanks for the advise, I plan on looking at my nut when I take my strings off the next time. In all honesty, I really want to change out my tuners to the Fender/Schaller locking tuners anyways. The string going out just gave me an incentive to get the locking tuners. If it does turn out to be the nut, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
