I have to say that I'm kinda dissapointed with Fender as of late. I was hoping for something new and fresh in 2009. But the head office decided to add a computer program to sand existing models down to look old? Is that the game plan now? A lot of us want something different! How about designing a brand new body shape from the ground up? How about reissues of old models like the Coronado, the Cyclone, or the Toranado? Do something wild and unexpected instead of the variations on existing themes routine year after year. You are becoming a tired dinosaur. I think it's time to clean house in the R&D department and do some research as to what the guitar playing public wants, which is something new.

Like I said before, a Road UNworn would be much better

I kinda understand you, but that's what most people want, more of the same. To be honest, I'm quite conservative myself.. well, as long as they keep the vintage reissue models, to me it's nice when Fender comes up with something new every now and then too.

There's a Custom Shop "Telemaster" model coming out from the Custom Shop in 2009, would be nice to see it as a regular production model.

Now, dear Fender, why not an ash body blond Classic Series 60's Telecaster??? :D

1) Relic is kinda "something new". Unfortunately, I agree with you that is only a new fad and not that exciting to me either. But give Fender credit for wasting no time and jumping on it to cash in.
2) Have you seen the new Dave Murray Strat? I guarantee that "the guitar playing public" is dying to get their hands on one. These won't last long on store shelves.

i like the road worns ,yes the relicing trend may fade away as a fad ,but the market for high quality relics will always be there.change or something new isnt always an imprvement over what exists.take coca cola when they tried to introduce their new recipe failed horribly.fender should do what they do best,im more intrested in reissued vintage products than a new design.i do like that Dave Murray and the new EJ.

I like the Road Worn series. I've never been a fan of a guitar that, after years of playing, still looks like it just came off the shelf and held with white gloves. It's like the guys that wear bright white shoes all the time and keep them sparkling. Don't like the sterile look.

True, I'd rather have (and do have) a guitar that's naturally worn. But, unless you have a nitro finish guitar, those poly finishes will NEVER wear like that. They'll last forever. Good and bad. So, if I wanted and extra guitar, and didn't want to look like I just bought it, I'd totally get a Road Worn, or an actual classic guitar.

If I want something very pretty to pet and put to bed at night, I'll get a PRS custom 24 with a 10 top in tobacco burst or something.

If I want a wild new design, or something crazy, I'll get a BC or some other metal guitar. There are plenty of those styles around for anyone that wants them.

I love Fender for what they are, for what they do, for what they make, and how I feel when I play Fenders.

As it is now, I think they make too many guitars. Having 20+ strats is crazy to me, but that's their business decision. I would have maybe 5. I beginner, a mid range, two high ends (with different options) and a custom. People custom these things like Harleys anyway. There's no need to make soooooooo many different models to cater to every single whim of any strat owner. Get a basic model, customize it. Simple.

As far a designing a new body, I am of the opinion that that would be a waste of time. All the good body shapes have been done, all that's left is "wierdness" for wierdnesses sake. Making an old body shape pointier or scewing its curves in not a new creation, it's just making an old shape different.

How about a Fender version of a Les Paul? That would at least be an interesting conversation piece.

 Maybe bringing back the REAL Starcaster (anyone else remember them?)
 How about the Flathead Telecaster?
 I miss my old HM Strat and would buy another if they reissued it.
 How about a site where you can pick your options from a list of already made parts and get a NON CUSTOM SHOP guitar bolted together the way you want it for a reasonable price.

Fender does what it does very well. You don't really need to improve on it. I think they should start focusing on ways to bring down the cost of the MIA guitars.

Ha! I use to play my buddy's HM all the time. Loved that thing. Paint stroke logo, neon color. Such a product of the 80's :)

In fact, his was exactly like this one....

Not very "strat-like", but very cool indeed. That and a Strat Ultra would be nice.

The "same ole" "same ole" is pretty boring, for sure.

But that's us guitarists in a word: boring. Just give us the same old designs and we'll be happy forever.

I wasn't alive back then  but I know that the dude from the Arctic Monkeys plays a black one all time. Or played one... But there's the Fender Mustang reissue out there and the Squier Classic Vibe Duosonic that are pretty close to it. Indeed the Bronco was a cheaper Duosonic.

One thing that would be pretty easy for them: more color options for the Squier Classic Vibes and Classic Series guitars.
