Has this ever been done before? A double necked instrument with a guitar and a bass together?

Hi stratmastah!: try this one (a Hutchin). I believe there's a bass or two in there somewhere...

I forgot what brand it was, but I've seen a double necked guitar/bass combo before. I've just been wondering how it works, 'cause you can't really plug it into a guitar amp (note, it only had one input jack).

I've seen Geddy Lee use Rickenbacker one for Xanadu, not sure about the jacks though.

I think that Warmoth makes a guitar/bass body that you can order.

It's been done many times--as have triple, quadruple, quintuple and as above--sextuple necks.

Ta one time when I was trying to get a band together and finding a bass player was always the hardest part I considered getting a double neck guitar & bass I saw at a store, and then finding one for another guitarist I knew so we could switch back & forth.

Of course there would have been a chiropractor or two who would have thanked us!

Why do they even bother putting strap buttons on those unplayable things.

Gibson had an SG guitar / EB-3 30" scale Bass in their catalogue for at least a decade, if not two. It might still be in the Custom selection. 'Have not seen one in a store for a long, long time.

'Believe Danelectro still does. Ibanez did a copy of the Gibson briefly in the early 70s, if memory serves.

'Have played a double 6 / 12 on more than a few occasions; it is bulky and heavy but serves a purpose.

If your volume level is not insane, a Twin Reverb will handle a 6 / bass easily. 'Often use a Jazz base through '65 Reissue..

A buddy of mine finished building one about 3 months ago on a double neck Tele body. Used a Tele neck and an early P Bass style neck. It's heavy and (in my opinion) kind of ugly, but it is unique.
