I really like Guitars with thin or smaller sized necks, short fingers I guess. Does anyone know what Model Fender's were or are still made with the thinnest neck size ?

Thanks for any info

Hello MrT,

Welcome to this forum.

I suppose you mean width at the nut.
A model that comes to mind is the
Mark Knopfler signature with a 1.625.
Ther are a couple others but I don't
recall them right now.
You can check under the products button
and look at the specs out for the
various models.
Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers

First thing that springs to my mind. I think I recall a discussion 'bout a year ago where we came to the conclusion that the MK is the slimmest. But like Bill said, the specs are there, go check them out

Don't know about the Knopfler model, but the current MIM Standards have the thinnest neck I ever played on a Fender (that includes all the regular US models and MIM Classic Series models).

If you are open to something different than a Strat or Tele, try a Mustang reissue - their necks are slimmer on the nut width and the scale is shorter (24"), so you don't have to stretch your fingers so much while playing. But the back of the neck is rounder C-shape.

The early 57' RI guitars made in 82'-83' had the thinnest necks ever seen on any Fender guitar Stratocaster. Unfortunately, in 1985, when CBS sold Fender, they somehow lost these measurements, and were never able to replicate this particular neck.
I have one of these guitars and before you ask...NO! I will not part with it

The neck I mentioned earlier in the early 57' RI guitars is much smaller than the MIM guitar necks. At the 12th fret, I can lay my four fingers on the strings, and wrap my thumb around the neck and lay that on the strings too to do some unusual barre chords that way. I can lay my thumb across the strings at the same time.
No, I do not have particularly big hands either.

My 79 is narrow at the nut, more than any of the MIM I have but the profile is bigger, may be a U shape and the radius is tighter too, 9.5 I think.

Jaguars are fairly thin, but nothing like a Mosrite Mk I.

Of all the Fenders I've played, my '62 AVRI strat surely has the thinnest neck.

hey is a thinner neck supposed to improve ur the general playing action or just the chords, i know it sounds silly but i kinda get confused when the strings are to next to each other

I don't think it improves or hurts anything. It's a matter of whether or not you like the way it feels. For the record, when people talk about a thin neck, they are usually referring to the front-to-back thickness, not the width across the fingerboard.
