I've been a self taught musician since I started playing. I picked up a guitar when I was only five and have been playing twelve years. But I have only really made any real progressions in learning in the last year. I've picked up a fair bit of knowledge about guitars, but there's alot more I'm keen to learn. Can anyone point me in the direction of a book, or computer programme or such that would teach me the "in's and out's" of the guitar? Cheers!

a computer program called 'guitar pro' is good. it has crap loads of scales with evey note on the fretboard. and you can also just type in a chord like 'minor sus 7th' or something wierd and it shows you all the different ways and places you can make it.
i've self taught myself heaps from it

I got a great book for Christmas, recommended by my teacher, called "The Guitar Handbook", edited by Ralph Denyer. It has everything from photos of guitar heroes in action to encouraging advice for the beginner from a Mr. Ted Nugent ( :? ) to very complicated scales and theory stuff.

The only thing missing is a profile of a talented and innovative female electric guitarist in the historical chapter, but I'm working hard and have my sights set on the next edition...

Cool. Well I've been using Guitar Pro 5 for the best part of six months now and have fairly mastered it's uses. I don't think there's much more I can take from it. If I had to describe my playing and knowledge, I would say it's competent, so I've already got the basics. I'm looking for something that builds on the basics... If that's a bit more specific?
