I am a native speaker of English, and I can get by very well in German and Russian. I was a Russian linguist in the Air Force, and I lived in Germany for six years.

I met my wife in Bali, Indonesia ( henceforth baliman1) and lived there several years. So...... I speak English, Indonesian & Balinese languages. Selamat pagi !!!

Yeah, it's exactly the same for me. Part of my family is from Mexico and they speak both Spanish and English. I can get the gist of what they're saying, but when I try to speak Spanish they laugh at me. I don't think I have that bad of a Texas accent in English, but in Spanish it really comes out.
