So I thought it could be my turn to start a poll. Just by curiosity and for fun,
how many language (s) do you speak? I didn't put the question in the traditionnal poll form because I don't know how many languages we're going to come up with and I don't want anyone to fell excluded. I did a forum search and found nothing.

Start with the language you learned first as a kid, then add the others. Keep it fun, don't cheat and no show off please, you must actualy be able to hold a conversation in all the languages you registered.

French.
English.

Nothing to win except a better comprehension of who we are as a worldwide group.

Claude.

Fluent only in English but . . .

. . . living in south Florida one must have some command of Spanish. I've done some traveling in Europe so I needed a little bit of German, too. That's it.

I mainly speak English. Being from Texas I also understand Spanish mostly. I know what the conversation is generally about, but cannot respond.

English

I took German starting in 7th grade (US) and through one year in college. But after that, none and no contact with anyone who spoke German. It's been 35 years now and I can't even read or understand brief bits anymore.

I've picked up a little Spanish (I can understand enough to get the gist of a simple conversation or written document) here in SoCal. I started taking adult Spanish classes three times, but in each case my job ended up interfering and I had to quit.

Ironically, I'm in probably one of the very few industries in SoCal where Spanish is of minimal value. You won't find many in the movie biz who speak only or mostly Spanish.

I struggle with English.
Being raised in El Paso, I used to be mostly fluent in border Spanish (which is not the same thing as real spanish, more Tex-Mex)
After 22 years in the Navy, I know enough dirty words to start a fight or get thrown in jail in about 7 more languages....

I'm struggling hard with English. I'll get it one day...

My wife is a linguist. I could give a list of hers - but it would take too long. Scary lady.

Cheers - C

I speak English fluently. I can speak Spanish to some degree but I'm better at writing it. I speak Korean but not as well as Spanish.
