No...you can say it came that way, ergo road worn.

No I'm sorry I just don't get this road worn thing. some of the relics I understand being a copy of an existing guitar but road worn no.
I have said it before but it does seem like a cover for selling reject first quality finishes - sorry Fender. The price premium seems an awful lot for a 'scratched and scraped' guitar.
I will make my own road worn effects simply thro playing.

Skepticism is OK -- it wouldn't be a new product launch without some of that. I'm confident that quite a bit of that will go to the wayside once folks get a chance to actually play these instruments, though. One critical thing that typically gets overlooked in discussions of this nature is that relic'ed/weathered instruments actually feel and respond differently too -- i.e., it's not purely a cosmetic concern.

I'll bet it does respond and sound differently. Thanks for clarifying that Brad! Cool!! 8)

In a way, the Road Worn Guitars might even prove to be liberating. God know I obsess over trying to keep my Highway One Tele (and even my Squier Tele) from picking up unwanted marks. Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong. I'd love to see how one plays, but unfortunately, the GC near me never has anything in stock that I want.

Yes, you've hit on a second excellent point -- they are by their very nature designed to have the HECK played out of them!

Now that's a very, very different form of "road worn" ... :-)

I don't really care about what products are available and if people like relics then they should eat up production relics like baseball cards. I just want to say that this is the first time I haven't wanted Squier to make something similar. Squier doesn't have a tonne of choices (they have a bunch) so I would hate to see the top guitar looking like an ebay special.

I put my order in for the 60s Strat in Olympic White. Got a pretty good deal from my local dealer.

:D

Here's another thought to ponder. Among the artists featured on a Johnny Cash special this weekend were nothing other than 'Derek and The Dominoes' and good old 'Brownie', late of the 'Layla'sessions, no doubt.

So it occurs to me that what we also have in this '57 Road Worn, is not only an economy Relic, but an economy "Blackie" and "Brownie" for those who might aspire to the look and feel of same

I'm not usually a fan of relic styles, it usually seems so poser-ish... but these guitars aren't to scratched up, which makes them still look good. I would like to at least try one.
