Hi everybody,
for a very long time I´m playing an old Jeff Beck Strat and like to buy a second fender guitar. But it´s impossible for me to go into a music shop and play all types to hear the difference in sounding, as well it´s impossible to order two dozen guitars for testing them at home.
My question: is there any possibility to listen to them via internet? That means, all fender guitars played through the same amp settings (Clean crunch, overdrive)? Or would it be a good idea to install such a site at this forum? I think it would help a lot of people to come to a better purchase decision. Greetings from Germany - Nobbi.

Actually Nobbi I had thought that was a facility lacking on the general Fender site. Why not showcase certain guiatrs through Fender amps so we can hear the difference and narrow our selections down before going to the store.
I think it would be a great addition to the Fender site, something they could change say monthly with different guitars

yeah but wouldn't it be nice to have a nice overview of several fender guitar types?
I think it's a pretty good idea!

Youtube is interesting but you dont often get an insight as to the amp being used, it settings or which guitar or even which pick up, so I was think more on the lines of a standardised format were we can crooss reference

whatever gear is played, its sound is going to be effected by the recording process. Mikes, eq, room are all going to effect the sound of any guitar and amp to a greater degree than most people realize. You'd never get a true representation of what stuff sounds like.

It could be recorded with minimal mixing but i doubt if companies like fender, gibson or marshall would want to publish recordings with anything less than the best tonal qualities. Playing is such a tactile thing too. Your fingers respond to your ears when your playing far differently than they do when someone else plays.
