just out of curiosity, anybody ever try it?

i made one from a 1/4" thick solid brass plate i found at a junkyard back in the 80's (and still have it). i owned a crappy old hondo at the time and needed to compete with my buddy's yamaha. it sounded so cool, i've been hooked ever since.
i've made them for my 3 acoustics (ovation 12 string, eterna 6, and epiphone 6) and found that they really brighten the sound.

anybody else use metal bridges?

Are you making a Bridge out of Brass or replacing the Bridge Saddle with a piece of Brass?

Now I'm a little confused. The bridge is the big part.

Theres always more to learn thats for sure. Thats what had me I could only imagine the amount of work it would be to drill Bridge pin holes and a saddle slot in a piece of brass  Like I said you can get brass pins I have used them for others when asked to but most saddles I have done are with Bone or Macarta. I have used both Brass and aluminium for guitar nut.

i started working on a brass nut for my telecaster, but it required a lot more precision work than an acoustic saddle. i was having trouble getting the correct arch on the bottom, and i went through two "prototypes" trying to get the string slots at the right depth.
i set it aside for now... i wasn't sure if a metal nut would be a good idea or not where the strings do slide on it a little when we do those blues-bends... but, hey, if cvilleira says it's ok... who am i to argue?

well, i usually pull the old one out and use it as a pattern for thickness, height, and arch... funny, as i'm writing this the telecasters on both sides of my screen have brass saddles :)
