Support the indy owned music guys as much as possible, because once they all go away, the big business geniouses that start making all the decisions will ruin it all.
They (@ G--C--R) have already tried putting the screws to the guys that made them all that money... . They keep trying to push their "private Label" brands instead of the quality items people want.
They force out the Mom & Pop stores by signing exclusive contracts w/ makers like Gibson that says that if "we move into your town you can't deal with the local guy that was already there 30 years" and then Gibson has to pull out of that guy's store! And once you can only buy from them, guess what brands they are gonna make go away? Gibson & Fender! Why? So they can sell you nothing but Laaaaguunnaa!
Thank you Fender - I don't think that you have quite signed the deal with the Horned One yet, like some other guys did, because I can still buy from 3 Authorized Fender Dealers in my area and that's good business!

GUITAR CENTER DOES NOT SUCK!!! i know that must be kinda annoying having to pay those ten bucks, but come on if you spent over 1200 dollars there in the past nine months what ten bucks. and why the hell do you need a manual for a practice amp anyways???

heres something i posted at the gibson forum a few days ago on a similar thread.

there must be some pretty bad staff at guitar centers out there because i can never understand why so many people hate on it (poor guitar center :'[ ). i always love to go to guitar center, infact my favorite thing to do is go to guitar center, period, no exceptions. all the ones i go to (about four different stores) have pretty good staff, it's always good to talk to the manager about stuff if yoou can they are ussauly pretty knowledgable. my only problem is at the seattle guitar center they wont let you play the vintage guitars unless you are planning on buying one. in the other three they are fine with it.

i actually find the guitar centers to be better then all my mom and pop stores i have been to as far as just getting guitars goes (i like the mom and pop stores for repairs and work on my guitars). out of all the little stores i have ever been to only one has ever had a gibson, they all ussaully just have little name guitars, ibanez, GnL and hagstrum at best. no fenders or gibsons ever. i personally like being able to go to a guitar store and play gibson guitars because they are the kind i like best, and i want to be able to play tons of different ones. not just one les paul.

so i personally think guitar center is the best. the staff aren't always completely knowedgable, but hey, thats why i make a point to be knoweldgable myself. i dont need some guy to tell me how many strings come in a pack, or how different guitars compare. i figure it out myself, i just need a big wall of guitar to play, some one smart enough to get the ones up top (cause those are ussaully the one i want to play :P ) down for me, and a good amp to play through. nothing else, the staff don't need to be genius luthiers/ guitar critics or anything.

Damn Jeffro how is your blood pressure Bro? You were getting a bit worked up there.

I agree with you that the knuckleheads that just go into GC to screw around are a pain. I don't care how good they THINK they are, I don't need to hear every weak amateurish lick that they know. Don't even get me started on the "chunka chunka" de-tuned crowd. Jeez take some freakin lessons boys.

Anyway GC is what it is, a large musical instrument retailer. I usually have positive experiences there because I'm older and don't mind telling the idiots to get lost. I also inspect stuff before I leave the store and I do my own setups too. All I really need GC for is a purchase point. Finally I really don't expect much more than "Wal Mart style" from them so I'm rarely disappointed.

No big concerns with GC, but I do share many of the criticisms (skippy the floor boy calling me "dude" and not having any idea of how to be in a sale position)......

I don't have many options, and in at least one case, have made some pretty good deals.....

I always purchase with caution, and know which sales persons to deal with
