I buy the CD's of hte bands I like. I used to buy the records back in the day, then tapes, now CD's. I do not trust downloads. If something happens to the computer or MP3 devise you are out of luck and have to buy the download again. I also like the Album/CD cover art to look at and read the acknowlegements.

Yeah, I also feel more related to the band I'm buying a CD of. You can really read and see what they mean with the music, and it is also something real to you, when you can hold the CD in your own hands...

I also understand your worry about downloading, and so does my dad. He's against it too.
But I really like the opportunity to listen to a whole album before buying it. or at least some songs.

Yep, that's the problem with the older generation...hard to get used to change. My daugher says the same thing. She wants to hear the album before buying. I can understand that too, I have been burned buying a CD after hearing 2 or 3 songs and those were the only songs that were good on the CD.

Haha, and how old is your daughter?
I'm usually able to see both sides of things like that, when I'm having an arguement with my parents, but sometimes we just can't draw a conclusion coz we both think we're right.

I noticed there are lots of "old" people on these fora, from my point of view, having lived for around 15 years.
People talk about their wives and kids. Am I the only 15 year old around here?

I am sure that you are not the only 15 y/o (teenager) on the Forum. My daughter is 15 almost 16. She too is starting to play guitar. She wants to take lessons when she gets a job. She is intrested in theory. She can read sheet music, just cannot apply it to the guitar yet. Unfortunately I cannot read sheet music, just tab, so I cannot help her there. My son who is 17 started to play when he was 14 but has decided not to continue...(at least not for now).

Wow, 37 years old is old...right? I know that when I was a teeager I thought so. Keep practicing and have fun.

allright! It's really good to know that i'm not the only 15 year old here on the fora, and it's especially good to know that i'm not the only 15 year old from europe! prolly lots of snow in norway now.
Holland sux when it comes to weather. And guitars.

Hey Rkeisher, I have this word document I made, with all then notes on every string and a minor ladder, which your daughter might recognise or find useful. Only thing is that I can't pm you, and I'm not gonna post it on the forum, coz it takes up lots of space. solutions?

We have a store here in town called Cheapo which carries used CD's and DVD's. That is where I do most of my shopping.

No down-loading for me yet - I am sure that I will be there soon enough..........

I buy the CD if I like more than half the album (which I Preview on line at Either Zune or I-tunes), if I only like a few song, I'll download them. As a matter of fact I just downloaded Robert Plant "Billy's Revenge," and "White Clean and Neat" from Now and Zen, but decided to wait and Buy Manic Nirvana on CD cause I like almost all the songs on that album.

Let's face it, when you download you don't get Liner Notes or Lyrics or any of the writing credits, and I like that info.

Yes because I like the art and liner notes. Burned CDs to me are just like having a bunch of dubbed cassette...its nice to have a copy, but I want the real thing...

I rarely buy new CDs anymore, but I will often drop a couple of bucks on a used CD at Half-Price Books or someplace like that. It's a great way to hear bands you've never heard of.
