I heard the clips. That's such a common chord progression, and a very obvious melody to go with it. I'm not a huge Coldplay fan at all, and I love Satch, but I seriously doubt they need to steal someone else's music when they write good stuff on their own, with a ton of awards to prove it. Like Satch would never noticed? Come one. You can only write so many pop chord progressions before they start sounding alike.

If it were just one song from one artist, that would be one thing. But to have multiple artists complaining about Coldplay's plagiarism that is entirely another matter! YouTube is full of comparisons of Coldplay's music to other songs. The similarities are undeniable!

I've always dug Coldplay. They were lyrical and could set a mood. I am concerned, however, about the plagarism claims. I did hear the comparisons to Satriani, and I have to say it sounded damn close.

I like them, I'd listen to them over Metallica ANY DAY.

Edit: What I meant to say is I like them when I hear them. I wouldn't intentionally play them though, I don't like them enough. But when I hear them on the radio or my brother plays them, I like it. I've seen them in concert once.

I like "some" songs by pretty much anybody. I've heard Coldplay, Creed, Nelly Furtado, Michelle Branch, Nickelback, Paramore songs that I really liked on the radio. Bands that most "musicians" completely dismiss for various reasons. Doesn't mean I think the guitar parts on them are amazing, or that they are the ultimate writers that I'd want to be, but I still liked some for being good, catchy songs. I have no problem admitting to liking some of their stuff at times.

Sometimes on a guitar-centric site like this one, people tend to lose sight of the fact that most people listen to songs not just riffs, chord progressions and solos.

The only song I can come close to liking is "Yellow".
They bore me, I'm afraid.
