I've been looking for one of those Squire VM Thinlines, as well, but the only one in town is a floor model at Best Buy (yuck) that has been beaten to hell. I've heard nothing but great stuff about them so far.

I did get myself a discontinued Eastwood Savannah as a present to myself. I've had my eye on it since August. It was heavily discounted, and I traded in some stuff that was going unused. Total cost... $85 for this awesome Gretschy/335y guitar.

Squier Vintage-Modified Thinline (bought on black Friday new for $240, but the kids gave it to me on Xmas)

This guitar comes spec'd exactly the way I wanted a Thinline (better than its Fender counterparts IMO):
alder body, modern 6-saddle bridge (instead of 3), 22-fret neck, rosewood fb, a Gibson-esque 24.75" scale, 7.25” radius neck, the '69 single-coil configuration

This guitar is beautiful, and I love its unique individual look. It is very cool that Fender allows the upscale "shoreline gold" color for it (it also comes in run-of-the-mill black).
The first big bonus was the perfect setup right out of the box (minus tuning, of course). This guitar did not need even one small tweak, coming to me with
ideal intonation, action, and pup height. Shocking.

Fit, finish, and quality are extremely high considering the price. The neck is particularly well fitted, detailed and finished. Second shock. As for the the DD pickups,
they provide some real nice tones. They are definitely fine for now, but will likely be changed out for some used Tele MIA Std pups later on. This guitar easily
rivals many much more expensive guitars. I am really diggin' it...

Now I'm seriously considering adding one of these to my collection.

I got a fender guitar strap, a bass book and an acoustic bass, which is quite good considering my wife is a tight arse.
Its obvious shes after something which is gonna cost a hell of a lot more than what she spent on me. :(

I got some gift cards for a book store--so it's possible I'll get some guitar related books.
I'm leaning towards Tony Bacon's The Fender Electric Guitar Book, as being one of my selections.

I didn`t make a purchase for myself as a Christmas gift per-say, BUT... I bought a hard shell case for one of my Strats and a new Blues Jr. that my local Sam Ash was running a promotion on. I got $100 off on the amp, plus traded in my other amp for it and only paid half price for the Blues Jr. It was hard to resist.

Nice girlfriend. Let us know what distortion pedal you went with.

After careful trial and consideration I went with the MXR M104 Distortion+. Simple, Extremely Heavy Gain and lets the Guitars voice sing through. Soon as it arrives, along with a new Gator Powered Pedalboard, I'll post a pic in the Show Your Pedal Thread.

My Dad gave me a copy of the sheet music for an old song my Grandpa used to play on his old Fender. I have yet to be able to identify which model of guitar he had, and the guitar was given to another family member who doesn't even remember what he did with it (the idiot). One day I'd like to see you guys post a section where you show a photo of every model you've ever made so I can try to identify Grandpa's guitar and get one just like it.
