Yeah, +1 to that -- except also add in progressive rock. I love Yes, Rush, 1970s Genesis, and Dream Theater (well, at least Images & Words and Awake)

Thanks 01GT I forgot the Prog boys! You "da man" :D

I'm an old rock and blues hound by nature but I will listen to anything except rap/hip hop.

Case in point: I woke up in a jazz mood and am currently listening to Pete Fountain blowing his clarinet....

I love the blues, but I mean the real raunchy old stuff: Mance Lipscomb, Mississippi John Hurt, Howling Wolf, Little Milton, John Lee Hooker et al. I love Clapton and Stevie Ray, but there's something magical about the old school. 8)

On top of that, I like classic rock, surf rock, some punk and 80s new wave. My favorite band is Jethro Tull.

But I also like a lot of classical music a lot, especially the works of Antonin Dvorak and Bedrich Smetana. In defense of opera, there are quite a few pieces I like. Check out Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro). It's a delight from start to finish. And I challenge you to listen to the stirringly beautiful "The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" from Verdi's Nabucco without getting tears in your eyes. Remember that opera is as much about theater as it is about the music. I recommend listening to opera in its original language while following along in the libretto with the translation.

Give it a try! :)

Smooth Jazz, Blues, 60's/70's Rock, Contemporary Christian. My mood dictates what I'll listen to. I write Jazz, Blues and CC. Again, that depends on the inspiration.

I like folk, folk-rock, blues, jazz, Irish traditional music, classical, and I do like opera.

I hate any kind of metal, I don't like most rock music, I hate rap, I highly dislike most pop (with the exception of people like Elton John), I hate hip hop, I hate funk, I hate techno, and I hate pop country. I enjoy old country like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings but I hate crap like Garth Brooks which is not country it is "pop country."

My musical tastes vary from Mozart to Van Morrison. I like that cool-sounding music if you know what I mean. The only "rock" group I like really is Led Zeppelin.

My favorite artists are Van Morrison and Bob Dylan.
