Hey,

Im in the market for a soundcard to do some recording, basically to be able to record some stuff then jam over it. Im looking for something of good quality, and at least 2 inputs (microphone ones) so i can record the bass to some of our songs from home and do it as many times as i can till its right.

Ive had a suggestion to get something that plugs in a USB socket so when my band has gigs we can record it all, which would be nice, but id rather have something good quality.

I dont really know what im looking for feature wise and such and have about US$120-$180 to spend.

Any advice, suggestions and hints are appreciated.

Off the top of my head, I'd recommend an M-Audio Delta 1010LT.

10 in/10 out/ and 2 XLR ins, you also get S/PDIF IO and word clock IO for high level synchronization.

It's a little more than you were looking to pay, at $199 from Streetwater, but well worth it, IMO.

Good luck!

I use a Lexicon Lambda which meets your inputs and price requirements. I've never encountered problems with USB, but for a little more money you could get a FireWire unit. PreSonus, Echo, and m-audio have low-end units, but you'd have to spend $200+. m-audio is the cheapest way to get into ProTools if that's the direction you're going in.

I'm a little confused now....are you actually looking for a soundcard with a breakout box or an audio interface?

MOTU is the way I'd go if the answer is audio interface.

Lots of people like MOTU, but their stuff is way out of his price range.
