I like alot of the stuff on his 'Best of The Darkhorse years' cd. I am also really fond of some of his early solo stuff, too.

Wah - Wah is probably my favorite right now.
All Those Years Ago and Only a Northern Song are pretty awesome too.

P.S. Did you know the guitar solo on Taxman is Paul? In my opinion, Ringo and Paul are the Beatles who doesn't get enough credit, at least in the "musical genius/visionary" category. Both deserve at least that much. I'll argue with people over how awesome Ringo's drumming is any day of the week. Even the 8th day...

Paul doesn't get any credit? Have you looked at the back of a Beatles album? George and Ringo definately get no lovin' but George is easily my favorite Beatle. I think his best song is While 'My Guitar Gently Weeps' no doubt aobut it.

Paul is probably the best all around musician. People who worked with them said that Paul was a better natural guitarist than George. Paul only went to the bass after Stu Sutcliffe, who was just so-so, finally quit the Beatles in Hamburg to pursue art. I think George was more a student of the instrument than the others and it showed in his body of work. John wasn't bad either, but seemed to enjoy playing Rhythm. He must know something because the way he and Paul arranged all those songs, says something about their musical ability.

most all beatle solos are from George. John did very little solos while in the beatles.

George was certainly underrated both as a composer and guitarist. I must confess I liked his guitar work before he discovered the slide much more than after. Maybe it's because I could never make that tube thingy do what I wanted to.

"Rocky Raccoon

Blackbird

Why Don't We Do It In The Road"

Those are McCartney. McCartney played lead on Taxman. Lennon co-wrote without credit some of the lyrics in Harrison's early-middle Beatles songs. Harrison kept time flawlessly. The Beatles were very perfectionistic with McCartney and Harrison insisting every song be done in perfect time, which gave Lennon and Starr plenty of trouble, especially Lennon. Lennon could play and he wrote the riffs to so many of their classics like Daytripper, their number one with feedback that I've forgotten the name of, Ticket To Ride, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Revolution, Come Together and many others, but Harrison played lead on almost every recording because these things were recorded live and he could play with flawless timing and note-perfect. That's a huge contribution to everything they did. Harrison also wrote some great songs on Revolver and all the later albums especially Abbey Road with Something and Here Comes the Sun.
