I started trying to learn guitar at the age of 37. I'm now 44 and not much better. I'm a blues fan but most of what I play is traditional gospel with sort of a western-swing style. I'm into home-studio recording but not very good at it. I'd like to learn more.
My son is a bass player (plays a great upright rockabilly style)
My daughter is a pianist
My Brother is a drummer

Equipment:
Fender Stratosonic (my "go to" axe)
Gretsch 6117 aniversary (for sale)
Jackson Charvelle (my first electric)
Martin D-15 with Fishman bridge pickup

Fender Cybertwin head + 4-12 cab (best amp ever)
Digitech GNX-4 (haven't found a use for this yet)
Mac G5 with Logic Express
about 50 "how to play guitar" books of various sorts

Well I was finally able to take photos this morning before the usual SOuth Florida thunderstorms came in. As I had mentioned in my previous post, I have a 1996 Epiphone Les Paul (my son is the one with the Fender Highway One). Last week I had the pickups changed to a Gibson 57 Classic in the neck and 57 Classic+ in the bridge (a little hotter). The change in sound and tone is amazing; it's like the guitar has been transformed. Here are some photos:

Hi. My name is Charles. I'm 49 and I've been picking at the guitar for about 25 years. Really started about 5 years ago when Mama wanted me to make a recording of some of the songs I sang at church. So I did and, even though they weren't all that good, it was alot of fun doing it. Also, a friend at work wanted to get a band together to play for the Christmas dinner. That went great and we've been playing for the event ever since. Also got a praise band started with just myself playing at church. Then added my family and a few others. Decided to call ourselves 3rd Verse because it is often left out when singing congregational hymns at church. There another band that calls from time to time for me to play. I enjoy that as well. I'm rooted deeeeep in Southern Rock!!

In possession of:
MIM Standard Strat fitted with Vintage Noiseless pickups :D
Korea Squier strat fitted with standard strat pickups
Yamaha accoustic
Ibanez RG 270
CB drum set
Zoom G2 effects pedal
Peavey Bandit 112 amp
Crate 100W amp
Fender FM-212 amp
$100 Casio keyboard
Tascam 424 MKII recorder

Absolutely cool having so many friendly folks here to talk music. Welcome to everyone who joined just recently.

Hey mcimk8d... that's a sweet blue guitar you have. Too bad you ain't playing a Fender. But as long as you're playing, that's all that matters.

Hey chris63... is that green Les Paul one you have or want?

Nah my LP standard is iced tea. My wife would never let me bring a green gecko burst home. Heck she won't let me bring any more red guitars home now, they have to be blue.

I thought Jessica might like it because green is her favorite color.
