Hey guys and girls. My name is Mark, I'm 17, been playing since my freshman year of high school, which would be about 4 years now. I'm self taught and I have a soft spot in my heart for Jimi Hendrix. I play mostly blues/rock/classic rock. Whatever genre you'd like to call it. Lots of John Mayer-ish stuff too, but mostly his work from the John Mayer Trio. Currently putting together a solid band to I can take on the college bar scene during my freshman year of college this coming school year.

I own some crappy Squier electrics and bass guitars, along with an Alvarez acoustic and a Takamine Classical, but outside of those are the guitars I actually care about:

Fender '68 Reissue Reverse Headstock (aka Hendrix Voodoo Strat after the lawsuit)
Taylor 310-CE

and I play through a '65 Deluxe Reverb (re-issue)

@ DanO: First...Hi from another forum noob  .
I think the Eric Johnson strat is really awesome. It's so smooth and has great tone.

I agree and I really like the v-neck on the EJ as well. I hope to get to the dealer within the next couple of weeks and make my decision. He's a couple hundred miles from me so I don't get there as often as I want but when I do, I'm the kid in the candy store. I'll definately be leaving with a strat this time.

my name is Russ, I am 14 and have been playing guitar for two years and it is honestly all i think about, my grades have dropped nearly 20% since I started playing guitar! I play mostly whatever i'm in the mood to play and have recently been training in classical guitar with one of Christopher Parkenings former students. I just recently sold my dirt bike to buy mr red highway one strat.

You have received the mark of the guitar player.
But get good grades!
If you ever want to make it to Berklee, gotta keep those up.

Tony,39, 2 kids and a wife. Sell BMW car parts for a livin. Have been playing,(if thats what you would call it), for about a year. Have basically been self taught, just learning my chords and different chord shapes. transitions are still real rough but that is because I don't get to play or practice near enough. Right now have a cheap Fender acoustic and a Squier starter package but am going to trade that for a MIM Tele(should have bought that to begin with). My board name is an acronym for my favorite song,Thorn In My Pride, by my favorite band The Black Crowes.
Really like reading all the stuff on here and gathering good information.

I too am a Fenderholic! My name is Chris, I am married with one kid (he is 7 going on 17). I had to put the guitar down for a few years (my son was 3 months premature but doing well now), but my check-book and fingers are making up for that now. I have 5 electrics, 4 acoustics, 1 bass, 3 amps and a bunch of pedals. So much so that the wife is making me finish the basement to move all my stuff into (ah the MAN-CAVE). I'm a computer geek by day (which helps feed my habit) and a wannabe blues man by night. If nothing else, I'm corrupting my son who already has a baby martin and a small squire strat for himself.

Boy my wife is in trouble!

By the way... My handle was picked because my toy of choice (at least lately) is my 60th anniversary strat with swapped out texas specials and a tortoiseshell pick guard.

hey my name is mike and I'm 13. I've been playing for about 3 years. My collection is still growing and I have 5 guitars now (selling two sadly my Washburn 335 copy and my Fender DG-8S) i need money to buy one of the 3 guitars I'm looking at Breedlove, Guild GAD-212 12 string and a Gretsch G3700. My favorite finish is sunburst and I like classic rock and blues. My influences are my dad Buddy Fite, B.B. King, SRV, Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton and a few local musicians where i live. I am becoming a fender-holic and I have been looking at a '62 reissue strat and a VG strat.

I'm Richard. I received my first guitar on Christmas Day, 1965, but it was stolen during the summer of 66. I didn't get another guitar until Christmas, 1996 when I was given a MIM Strat and a Squire Champ 25 GR amp. Since then, I been making up for lost time.

My other Fender guitars includes an AmSe Strat and a CIJ Tele 62 RI. My Fender amps include a 73 SFDR (with an Altec Lansing speaker) and a Champion 600.

And BTW, I'm a lefty.

Hmm, where to start? My name is Jason and come from the great city of St. Louis. I am an offical strat nut, though believe it or not I have a 95 American standard and I love my 98 Mexican strat....So I have three strats, one tele, a 64 Gretsch, an Alvarez six string acoustic, a seagull 12 acoustic, and an alvarex a body mandolin.

I am currently involved with a band called the wolves. It is just a straight ahead three piece rock band check us out at www.myspace.com/thewolvesstl if one band wasn't enough, I have also started a blues project. So I have a full plate, but hey that is music!

Jason

I'm 21 and am currently going to college for a Software Engineering degree. I've been into music since I was in 5th grade, but didn't pick up guitar until I went to college. Now I'm a little over halfway into my degree and all I can think about is playing guitar. I've often considered jumping ship and going to Berkely, but I think I'll stick with it and just keep playing as much as I can. I started playing acoustic 3 years ago and I'm about to dive into the world of electric guitars. I'm pretty much addicted to blues and rock & roll.
