Hi my name is Michael Hardie, I am 30 years old and live in Canada.

What got me into music (Bass playing especially) was listening to Jaco, Flea, Sting and other great Bass players.

I have a Fender P Bass, a Simon & Patrick Acoustic 6 string guitar, and a Highway One Strat.

I first started playing bass at 16 years of age. I played in many different bands. The styles I have played is Jazz, Blues, Funk and Rock.

This year I wanted to give myself a new challenge and I am starting to play guitar. I have to say that it is strange playing with a pick, but i am getting use to it.

Morning all...

Rudders here...

I'm a big Floyd, Gilmour, Waters, Dr.Feelgood, Wilko Johnson, Status Quo fan... all Fender players :-)

I have four guitars:

1. 1962 Fender Jaguar (This one may get sold to buy a new Gilmour Strat depending on price)
2. 1994 Fender Telecaster
3. 2002 Squier Stratocaster
4. 1965 EKO 12 String Acoustic

I play them all through a Fender Sidekick Reverb 35 watt...

I recorded a version of Arnold Layne for a competition on Gilmour's website early last year... we didn't win but it was good fun!

So if there are any guitairists near Burlington, Ontario who want to jam let me know :)

Hi,
My name is Margaret. I am a guitar player for over 35 years, God, I hate to admit that, kind of giving away my age, huh?
Any, I joined up here a week or so ago and just thought I would introduce myself and check out the site, maybe do a few posts. :)
I see a lot of the other members posting images of their instruments here. Well, I'm not that advanced yet  I only have one photo of my electric to share today.
My guitar was originally a Squire Bullet but morphed it into a Fender custom, put a double humbucker in it, toggle switches, and the coils were changed over to strat. It sounds fantastic! Of course, the man who did this work on my guitar was a well-known guitar guru around this area at that time whose name will remain anonymous for now. I have to ask him about posting info. first  He was a luthier and I spent many hours sitting on a bench watching him build extraordinary guitars in his shop. I learned a lot about guitars from him 8)
As far as my influences go, to many influences to list, I have been a bit of a fanatic about guitar I'm afraid, soaking up all the info. and listening/learning from all the local musicians and greats that I could get access to! I was happy to see Jeff Beck opening the American Standard Series promo. that is going on!! He is one of my all time favorites and definitely has had a large influence on my learning/playing guitar. Tom Cruise lives by Scientology (I know, I know, not a musician, just bear with me here) I live by Beckology  my little joke of the day
Ok, that’s about all I can think of. See you in the forums. 8) I'll post a picture of my baby below

I am 28, from British Columbia, Canada. My girlfriend bought me a Squier kit for Christmas, because I kept saying I wanted to learn to play the guitar all the time she's known me. I'm learning slowly, and I LOVE IT!

I live on a small island on the west coast called Cormorant Island. The air is clean, the water comes out of the tap better than any bottled water, and i get to go hunting/fishing whenever I want.

I am Aboriginal/Finn-Swede, I work for my First Nation ('Namgis) as a GIS Technician (I make maps.)

The first time I remember hearing a guitar was AC/DC. My brother listen to it in the basement, and i thought it was awesome (still do) and i wanted to play like that. Since then I've heard some blues and other styles but, blues guitar and rock are my favourites.

I'm Colin, and I'm 18. I picked up a bass when I was 15, a guitar a few months later. I have two passions in life-music and flying (hence my username), and hope to become a professional pilot.

Aside from that, I also like playing drums along with guitar and bass. Last year, my former band recorded a studio EP with me playing drums on the tracks (take a listen here: http://www.myspace.com/elucite). Right now, I'm writing some of my own songs, and trying to develop my sound and technique . If money allows for it, I might go into the studio and do a simple 3-song demo and play some shows.

I started on a squire j-bass, got an Asian-made Spector a few years ago for Christmas (which got stolen last summer!), and now am saving up for a 57 p-bass. For guitars, I have a Mexican-made Tele and Powerhouse Strat.

Um, yeah, that's about it.

Hello everyone. My name is Jeremy. I am 35 years old and am a father of three testosterone filled boys (6, 4, 2). I am happily married and my wife is good enough to put up with my musical habits. I graduated college and was a band director for 5 years. Currently I am a middle school assistant principal in Indiana. I have been playing guitar for about 2.5 years and play in our church praise band as well as in a band made up of fellow educators. I own a Stratocaster American Deluxe, an American Strat, and I also have a Heritage 535 that sits in the case. I truly love the fender stuff and my 6 year old has a Squier mini strat that he cranks on!

Hey, mister1k, your 1976 Gold Top looks a lot like my late 1974 Gold Top:

Image

This pic doesn't show the checking so well, but it's a LOT like yours. Mine has a big wear spot under the pickguard, down to the bare wood, that you can just barely see in the pic.

Cheers.

Hello everyone. I'm 27 years old, and also a new Fender owner. I've been playing for 12 years and have undergone a gear and goal overhaul. I wasted so many years chasing distortion and humbuckers. I looked down at my guitar one day and realized my playing was uninspiring and not going anywhere. I have good ability with the guitar but my tone and everything I had built up was going nowhere. I don't know how I've overlooked the fact, that for so many years, the notes from a chord were not sounding through. I got my 2008 Strat and a Vox AC30 tube amp, and am starting over. I just wish this would have occured to me in the very beginning. I realize now that I do have soul and great feeling but it was being hidden by distortion. I blame Generation X for robbing me of sweet tube tone all these years. As a young player it seemed like all the older guys (no offense) were all about tubes and strats. I realize now you just get older and wiser. I just wish one of those older players would have sat me down and let me know about all of this years ago. Where were you when I needed you to tell me to ditch all the hyper distortion? No hard feelings though. Happy to be part of the club...
