In my opinion the Musicman Basses are better. I used to play with a bassist that uses Musicman basses and to be honest, it was the best sounding bass I've ever heard. He used several different amps and it always sounded great. That being said I used to play a Jazz Bass that I wish I had back now. It was a great bass. Fender Basses are the industry standard and you'll see more performers using them. You can't go wrong with either. It will come down to personal taste and how each one feels to you. Your going to have to just find a way to play them and then make your selection.

Play both and see which you prefer. I like the Jazz Bass best myself.

"Better" is qualitative.

'Personally, have happily owned a fretless Jazz Bass Standard since '00.

Funny you should ask that. I went to Nitengale concert recently, and afterwards, talked to the bassist (who has both). He likes the jazz bass more and uses the stingray as a back up.

The one you like better is the one that's "better", but only for you.
