I have a MySpace. I kept mine classic and don't use it much. Looking at other ppls spaces and trying to read the info is near impossible because they are so pimped out.

I joined FB a lttle while ago and am having fun using that. Way more straight forward. Enjoy the chat feature!! In touch with ppl I haven't seen in years!

Also on LinkedIn, but don't know what to do with that. More for job/pro networking it seems. I don't know that there is a need for more "Cloud Monitors". nevermind...........

I've given up on online social networks because I fail to see the point.
I have a facebook in order to stay in touch with family on there, but...
It's so overrated. I got better stuff to do! :D

More importantly is the false security of 'privacy' not withstanding all commercial representations to the contrary. Give thought to all the personal information, either written or in photos that millions have invested in the care of some cyberserver somewhere just waiting for some 'thief' to get its rocks off by cracking the code.( What comes to minds is the image of the pathetic 'dumb blond bimbo stable' which my bachelor stepson keeps in his social networks, and all the 'long legs up to an empty room' types who have willingly contributed to it.)

For starters.....just 'google' any webname you've ever used to identify yourself in a discussion group and see what's out there. Remember also, that your emails are all public domain and retrievable.

I have, among my friends and acquaintances, people in the law, who use retreival methods every day in their quest for discovery and documentation. When I tell you that I know for a fact that documents older than 10 years and long since believed to be dust have been restored to that light of day, I speak truthfully.

Keep any and all material or information, which you would loathe to be shared indiscriminately, out of cyberspace.

Doc

That's very good advice. I'm a conspiracy freak and when I googled my avatar one day I was pretty shocked. I'm more worried about online banking and credit info. That could definately ruin someone's life. Kinda like the movie "Net" (Sandra Bullock).

What gets me more is that there are companies making money on our information creating credit ratings sometimes even with false information on our files. Who gave them the right to do this? When did a free America let these criminals slander us?

I could keep going but I've said too much. Please follow ZZDOC's advice and do your research before giving up your privacy and demand your rights.

Thanks to everyone who responded here and we've succeeded in building a small contingent of Forumites over at MySpace and Facebook. I'm going to go ahead and 'unstick' this thread for a bit so we can put our primary focus on our 2009 Kickoff coverage (coming soon), but may 'stick' it again in the future!
