Are there any great songs that the radio has ruined for you?

Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," Pink Floyd's "Money," and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" are all brilliant pieces of music, but I've heard them on the radio so many times over the years I want to scream.

I'm also a huge Jethro Tull fan, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if I never again heard the songs "Aqualung" or "Locomotive Breath."

Are there any songs that have been ruined for you in this way?

Hi russianracehorse, yes these songs were overplayed by the radios here too. A lot of radio stations also used to play songs without the beginning and/or the end so they could play more songs and more advertising, really annoying. But the worst I heard was songs playeds faster than the normal speed so they could sell more adds. OK, writing this made me recall "I shot the sheriff", "Satisfaction". :? Now I remember why I quit listening to the radio for so many years. :) Cheers.

Claude.

"Hit me with your best shot" by Pat Benatar. I am not a violent person but I wished somebody would punch her in the face really hard for that one.

I dont listen to music on the radio much at all. The only thing I listen to on the radio stations is sports and sport talk.. At home I use my music account and listen to what I want and in the cars I play the Mp3 thru the head units or Cd's.

"Old Time Rock n' Roll" by Bob Seger. I swear nobody better have a gun around me when i hear that song or there could be problems. That song is so horribly annoying. Oh also, pretty much any song by Jimmy Buffett. Talk about a guy blatantly trying to write sing-along songs. He takes the cake.

Our local radio Rock station plays a lot of Nickleback. I thought that when they first came out they were ok...now I cannot stand to hear them at all. Our oldies station plays a lot of Journey, and I got burned out on them as well.

Yeah, the "classic" rock stations play everything to death. It makes me want to scream. The funny thing is that there are a lot of people that want to hear this stuff. I find those people to be non-musicians and non-musical. It seems to be just a kind of white noise to them.

Anyone remember when the new FM was "all music - no talk?" How long before satellite radio goes that route?

On the General Rock station - The Day that Never comes by metallica (and anything by slipknot)

On the alternative station - don't trust me - 3OH!3

Classic rock - Freebird

Those are the only stations I listen to on regular FM radio

Pretty much any good, classic rock song that you can think of, that was in any popular, has been (and still is) played to death on the radio.

I pretty much never listen to the radio anymore, except for XM or Sirius. All the old songs are over played, and there's not a lot of the new stuff that I think has much to offer. All sounds the same for the most part. Just 20 different bands doing the same sound, all whining about girls. Sissy rock. At least back in the day, rockers didn't whine about girls, they got the girl and wrote about that.
