Cool. To paraphrase Skratz...

"...In church I pray with my guitar, and seek in notes, the wonders of sun and moon and stars...."

I use my tele (which I recently put a black pickguard on. It looks sick.) for youth group. But last sunday I met this great player who played a 50th ann. deluxe sunburst strat. It was rediculous. I hadn't really met him before because I don't often go sunday.
Also, another friend on my worship team has a mim sunurst strat. He doesn't ever bring it though, he just plays the pastors Ovation or G&L.

Lutherans don't use praisebands. We use something called a Pipe Organ.

If I were to walk into a Church, I think the paint would peel off the walls. I was really bad as a kid. I still suffer from P. T. N. S. (Post Traumatic Nun Syndrome). I still have scars from the nuns hitting my hands with a ruler. And I can still taste the Ivory bar soap from having my mouth washed out with soap.

Catholic school or something? Ha, I never liked Catholic ways. Go to a non-Catholic Christian church, the walls will be fine.

Here in WI we have a pretty good Praise band as well.

We have electronic drums to solve the volume issues, a nice sound system built into the new church, one soundperson on for the Sundays we play, and 5 bandmembers.

The guitarists both play A/E's, not Fenders, but I'm still trying to get one of them to try an electric sometime.... 8)

I have Lutheran friends in Rochester, NY and their church has a praise band. Now being old school, they don't believe that "rock/pop" music belongs in a church service. Since that view was shared by others, their church only has the praise band at the early service; the later one is traditional all the way.

I also know people here in LA who go to a Lutheran church with a praise band. Here I may be reflecting my (and their) age, but they too tend to associate that with the younger congregation. Their church also continues to offer a strictly traditional service.

I'm Methodist, so I can't say from first hand experience, but it does seem that some Lutheran congregations are very "modern" and evangelically (if that's a real word) oriented. On the other hand, I'm not aware of any Methodist church with a praise band or anything like that. There may well be though, since I don't think there's any rule against it.

I live in Michigan, and am a recovering Catholic turned Lutheran. I play in bass in our Praise Band. We have 3 services:
1 - Pipe Organ
2 - Blended with some traditional played praise band style and some contemporqary
3 - Contemporary only

A little something for everyone and not too many people complain.

For me, It's a Fender American Deluxe Strat and a Pro Tube series, Pro Reverb.
As a Faith community, the Catholic Church has always been slow to embrace change when it comes to Scared music. To this day, old school Catholics seem to think that proper Church music stopped with the late Baroque era. Even the Contemporary Music Ensemble, that I am part of, were resistant to move beyond the Folk era of music forms.
It was most amusing, the first time that I played my Strat with the group; all the Folkies in the group, acoustic guitars in hand, turned their heads in unison in my direction,.... gulp!
