You can please some of the people some of the time. You can please some of the people all of the time. You can't please all of the people all of the time.
Now that I've essentially characterized the 200K of you out there, go see the film.
I hope you enjoy it.

Haven't seen the flick yet, but the sound track isn't half bad. Maybe a little to much of Beyonce' for some... OK, well me...

In this case....to the producer's go the spoils. Would rather have seen Jennifer Hudson in the role of Etta James. The actors chosen to play the other blues legends are remarkable likenesses. Beyonce is out of place here. But its her gig!

Addendum: After futher investigation I have learned that the screen play was not based upon any book. However, I have in my library the following:

'Spinning Blues Into Gold'
The Chess Brothers and The Legendary Chess Records

Author: Nadine Cohodas
Pub: St. Martin's Press, New York
May 2000

For blues aficionados it is a 'must read!' 8)

I'm hoping to see it eventually. I liked the movies about Motown and Stax and to see and hear about Little Walter, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Etta James should be interesting.

Don't take the screen play as 'gospel' ya'll. It's an interesting entertainment. Rather, go for the book, and look for the DVD's entitled "The American Folk Blues Festival" 1962-1966 which chronicles the European Tours of those artists. As well, "The London Sessions" of Muddy Waters, and "The Wolf."
