Well I don't think Robert Plant would be too bothered and why should he be ? He has his own agenda, keeping himself busy doing his own things.
But will it be Zep ? well of cousre, not as such but if they make good music I personally won't be too bothered either.
Best wishes to both parties.

For years Jimmy Page denied John Pual Jone's roll in Zep's success. I think it's sort of ironic that Led Zeppelin will be going without Robert Plant, since Plant and Page went on without John Pual Jones back in the 90's because they didn't want to be to much like Led Zeppelin.

This tells me that Led Zeppelin more or less JPJ's monster. All other members seem to be expendable.

edit-(that's assuming that this isn't just some collegiate hoax)

This is merely my opinion, YMMV.

Having seen both bands several times in their prime:

When Keith Moon died, that was the end of the Who. Even more so now with the Ox gone too. To me, what's left sounds like a top notch tribute band.

The same thing with LZ. Bonham's gone, LZ is history. Without Plant (even though his voice is shot), moreso here too. Again, at best, a top notch tribute band. FWIW, David Coverdale would be an outstanding replacement choice.

I'm sure it was pure ego which made Page (and apparently, Plant) minimize Jones' contribution to the group.

That would be like saying a recording by McCartney and ringo is a Beatles album. It may be good, it may even be great, but the Beatles it is not. There are certain great bands that together are greater than the sum of their individual aprts, and Led Zepplin is one of them. You take one of the parts away, and they never reach the zenith of the original, unlike say, Van Halen.

I think it would be cool if they just made a purely instrumental album.

Led Zeppelin + David Coverdale would be very cool. But I would rather see Coverdale keep going with Whitesnake. Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach deserve to be in the underated Guitaris Thread.

Do you have a source for this, because I haven't heard or seen anything that would hint to them recording a new album. They were possibly thinking of touring without Plant, but they never said they were going to make a new album to my knowledge.

Well if Robert Plant isn't in the band, then it isn't really Led Zeppelin................... or is it?

Well, Axl still calls his band Guns N' Roses even though he's the only original member. They at least beat that

Zep fans wouldn't reall like it, but I bet it would appeal to rock fans that only had a passing interest in Zep.

I wasn't a big Queen fan, I liked Some of the early stuff, but I thought that their studio stuff was over prosessed, and didn't care for their b-side stuff. But I Thought Brian May was a Great Player and really liked Bad Co. and The Firm and Paul Rodgers solo stuff. So when I found out Pual was going to be backed by May I thought, "I Hope The Do Some OF Rodgers Material!" But I ended up liking the Queen stuff with the raw live energy and Rodgers powereful vocals behind it. Now I a big Queen + Paul Rodgers Fan, but still not a big Queen fan...........

.....Hhhhmmmm..........

Led Zeppelin + Paul Rodgers?

I think they should use either Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, cause if you ever heard Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes Live at the Greek, he does a pretty good job. And if anyone remembers a band called Kingdom Come, their first album was pretty much a Led Zepplin record, and if that dude is still around and can sing, he might be a good replacement for Plant as well...
