Well I think that we could have both. If you listen to Rocky Raccoon on the White Album, at about 2m56s there is a back vocal that goes "taa ta ta taa" and it is none of the Beatles doing it, it is Gilmour and Co. The voice is unmistakably so unbeatle and also uncredited. I think that at that time, the Beatles would invite a lot of people during their record sessions, and some of them would sometime record a little part in a song.

Claude.

Can't split them.
Both important bands for different reasons.
Both great bands.

Oh just thought McCartney was in the Beatles.
mm might have changed my mind, Pink Floyd it is then.

A landslide for the Floyd on that one :!: +1 on the choice of 'Eleanor Rigby.'

Funny story time.

I was at a party a few years back(early 90s) and met this really attractive girl. We started talking about music and she said she was a huge Floyd fan. I thought I had hit the jackpot; hot, blonde, petite, and a Floyd fan. We talked and talked, and then I mentioned that alot of Floyd's early stuff gets overlooked alot. She totally agreed with me saying "Yeah, you're right. Except "Eleanor Rigby", I hear that on the radio all the time."
Ah, Buh-bye.

They are both important to me, but at different times in my life. the Beatles are why I started to love music. From the 5th grade on for about 4 years I was mad about the Beatles. As I got older my interest widened and I became a Pink Floyd fan. Not exclusively, but a big fan. both Beatles songs and early Pink Floyd songs bring back memories of some good times in my life. Isn't that what music should do?

Totally agree!! Even though we've (us older types,ar least),been lucky enough to witness some amazing talent over the years. A lot of why we love certain music is more because of the experience than just the music.

Oh, and I agree with bol136 except for, "Let it be" should win over "The Final Cut".

I remember my friend telling me how he was talking to this guy who was wearing a dark side of the moon shirt. He asked him what his favorite song was from that album and guess what he replied...dark side of the moon. :? Honestly, if your going to represent a band at least know their music.
