Fender is like M&M's

There have been other candy coated chocolates. More expensive ones. More affordable, but good enough ones.

But none of them has the pure magical enjoyment of the Original. And while some may argue that the M&M's of the 60's were better that the M&M's of today, there's still no better Candy Coated Chocolate being produced in todays market.

(Gibsons are kinda like Sixlets. My second favorite candy coated chocolate.)

What does it represent? The most comfortable guitars that will do whatever you need them to. In their simplest form they are effective and comfortable. Like my first vehicle that I purchased, a little two wheel drive Ford Ranger, it had only 4 cylinders and wasn't winning any races but it did the job and never let up til after I was married and we outgrew it.

I was a new bassist, a relatively short person, struggling to find comfort with this huge old Ibanez bass that I had. When a friend stumbled onto the 78 Musicmaster bass that I now have. It was a victim of sad neglect that needed considerable TLC, but even in it's roughest form it just "felt" right.

17 years later that Musicmaster is my #1 stringed "baby", and my Montara A/E is a close second. There's just no reason to have anything else IMO.

The sound, then the looks.

And did I mention how it feels to hold and play a Stratocaster - absolutely wonderful

I sometimes just sit and wonder what it would be like to be Leo Fender and have that many great ideas that even when imroved, people still go back to the original. How the hell did he do it? :?

Fender means a mysterious time in history when every moon lined up perfectly and a handful of guys with enough brains and balls to follow a genius invented everything there was to say about electric instruments with 2 guitars, 2 basses and a handfull of amplifiers. Everybody wants em, everybody plays em and everybody wishes they had invented em.

To me, that is the Fender legacy.

Beyond quality, versatility and a wide range of models to choose from, for me it's just the fact that I bought my first Fender in 1966 and many others since and they have always met my expectations. Leo is the man!! 8) Mike

An American legand that helped to birth many other legands in music and turn the 1950's on it's ear !!!

One that has been through the turbulance and troubled waters and come back strong .

One that to this day is still making the very best guitars and amps in the world at a reasonable price.

It really does give me goosebumps, Fender reminds me of a lot of the good things about America.
