Hi! I have a Fender Hot Rod deluxe 40 watt amp and I play a USA Strat.

I also use a Blackstar HT Dual pedal boost for lead. When using the amp on the "more drive" I find it very hissy / noisey and occasionally, I pick up interference through the amp - this can be radio channels or other. This happens whether using the pedal through the input or effect loop.

Also, what is the best way to get a good classic rock sound - using both the pickups and amp configuration?

I play in two bands one is just pure blues, the other is covers.

Regards

Alun

Hi Alun, welcome to the Forum.

I also have a Blackstar Dual pedal and have not had that issue. Unless someone else here has a good suggestion I'd ask the boys at Blackstar themselves about it. They have a contact section under "Resources" on their website:

http://www.blackstaramps.co.uk/

Hope you get it sorted.

Cheers - C

Welcome Alun!

You wouldn't be involved in information technology would you?

Since you mentioned blues, have you seen blues republic?

Welcome to the Forum.

Does this happen when you plug the amp in just one location or multiple locations?

Yes it could be outside interference from house wiring. Like others asked is it the same at different locations?

Welcome to the forums.
As above really, but can I ask, ' Do you get hiss and noise when you have the pedal dis-connected ?'

No, on the clean channel it is as clear as anything. I am keen to get the classic rock sound for some of the songs in the band, that is why initially I bought the blackstar. When I use the blackstar with the more drive channel it seems really noisey.

My other bandmate plays an ibanez through a peavey 30 watt valve amp and he gets a great sound he also uses a bbe boost pedal ( treble boost() and it sounds really good

No, not at all and certainly nothing in respect of picking up radio signals / or other bands transmissions which has happened.

Ok, so now you know for sure it's the pedal, have you got another overdrive pedal you can try, if you can try your mates pedal to see if his causes hiss on your rig.
If his is ok. then either go back and look at Ceri's link or if you can pick up a noise gate to try out, that might solve it. Or, I will imagine you have tried moving the pedals position in relation to the amp, sometimes just moving it more to the side can cut down the hiss. Before you call it a faulty pedal, go through all the elimination processes.
Try these and get back to us, someone will have an answer.
