Most musicians "play" a guitar, but Beck seems to "attack" his Strat and gets some really great sounds with his techniques. 8)

Enjoy!

I bought a guitar from Jenny Batten, the other guitarist in this clip, several years ago. It was a Robin Medley Custom. I didn't bond with the Floyd Rose and ended up getting rid of it. It looked mahvalous tho

The trem on the Beck Signature Guitar is designed to permit the handled to be pulled as well as pushed. It was a requirement of his in the development of the guitar.

Wouldn't mind seeing Lita Ford and Jennifer Batten on tour together.

It also looks like he's using his fingers, thumb and whole hands more than picks lately.

Doc, Lita and Jennifer with Tal on Bass and the drummer from the Donnas would be a good show, IMO.

Is it just me or does he look like a cross between Ron Wood and Christopher Guest in This Is Spinal Tap?

He is, of course, constantly exploring the limits of that instrument.

Ditto on your quartet :!:

How're you doing??

I love watching Jeff Beck play, he seems to draw every colour and mood out of his instrument.
I just had to go and play on my JB strat after watching that.
Hey!!! I sounded just like him.

Yeah, forty-five years too late, dead right but let me dream :D it's all I've got left.
Note: I said I sounded like him, not played like him.
Hey Doc !! Pulling on the trem bar doesn't do that much, yeh, it's there but not all that pronounced, better when you press and pull. Notice Beck's working it regularly but I play with a pick and that's a bit restrictive. I might give the finger playing a try on that guitar.
However, that guitar does sound really good, it does have the Beck sound, with enough overdrive behind it. I'm very pleased with it.
You'll have to get one Doc!! I'll come over there and we'll duo 'Cause we've ended as lovers' HaHa I've just realised what I've written. You know? the tune? Beck and Clapton duo'd it once.
Yeh right.....I think I pulled that round.
All the best Doc,
Rhumba

tomk62,

Your comment reminded me of a fine song - "Break Like the Wind"

Fantastic player for ages. Far cry from his Yardbirds roots. One of my favorite tunes of his has always been, I Ain't Superstious. Just totally rocks. 8) Mike

Is that the version from Jeff's album Truth with Rod Stewart singing (or is there another version you like)?

How old is he now? 63? or something like that? He would put any of these so called young guns to shame. There's a reason why he's been around as long as he's been, it's called talent!

He'll be 65 in about six months. Born June 24, 1944.

I've got a great book called "Crazy Fingers" that is a good read and Jeff cites the playing of Cliff Gallup as one of his most earliest influences.
