Is it just me or does the freecreditreport.com commercials use Fender products in it's commercials? I've also noticed that on House he always plays a Gibson I've seen him play a Flying V, LP and ES335. I was just curious as to whether the producers approach the companies or the companies approach the producers for the poduct placement.

House also has a Sunburst Strat - it hangs on the wall by the piano - some episode ending has him unpacking a Fender box, and smiling as he sits down to tune and play it. No sign of an amp anywhere

Ha! So happens, early-'80s I worked in theater for a few years and I can tell you I never met a Production Manager who wasn't trying to get stuff for free. The conversation went like this:

"Our character plays the guitar. Could be he plays your guitars. What's it worth?"

Over at Fender the marketing guy said, "What? He's an American doctor but he's going to be played by an English actor with a posh accent? Come off it, that ain't ever gonna fly. Goodbye."

At Gibson they said: "Well, we sponsored that Hendrix roadshow, and yet all but one of the artists played Fenders. Hotdamn, we've got to jump at any opportunity we can get to put our name in front of people one way or another. A Limey actor playing the good guy? Oh well, we'll give it a chance..."

Yeah! Each commercial for freecredit the bass and guitar players are playing different Fenders in each one! 8)
Musicians always notice such things. Every time I see someone playing a guitar it's a mission to figure out what make and model it is!

Hop! I am the same way. I always try to figure it out and I get frustrated when I can't make it out or they don't give you good shots of the guitar!

Some companies pay major bucks to have their product placed in the big movies / tv shows.
Look at Aston Martin and James Bond for instance

Have you ever noticed when you go to a concert that you can spot the musicians in the audience? There will be a group of guys standing up front or to the side not moving to the music but intensely staring at the equipment of the band or trying to pick up on a lick or two! I heard even the Beatles used to do that in the early days.

Intensely staring could just be for other reasons. I digress I must have be having a flashback

The Freecreditreport.com band must have good credit. Their instruments are always changing. And yes the guitars are always Fender...Fender rules.

Love them product placements.

LOL. I did that not too long ago on the Thrice/Rise Against tour.

Was near the front the whole time trying to figure out why Dustin's (from Thrice) Telecaster didn't always sound like a Telecaster. I found out later that he took the guts out of a Line 6 Variax and transplanted them into a Tele, cause he liked the feel of the Tele better. Sadly I couldn't pick up any licks or songs from them, because I was too in awe of all the energy they were pouring into their music. I just wish I had that much energy to run and jump around like they were.
