Also, why on earth is this forum time limited? As I live in the UK having posting limited to Mountain Standard Time is a bit useless to me. :)

Hi Ian, welcome to the Forum.

The reason for the time limit is that although it doesn't sound like Brad gets much sleep, he probably needs a little shuteye.

Many Brits here: what we do is start posting around 1.00 pm and carry on till 3.00 in the morning. That's surely enough even for the geekiest amongst us? :D As another Ian round here sometimes say, we need to try talking to girls sometimes, too...

As to the guitar: the latest American Standard Strat is a pretty good place to start. Look at a Deluxe if you can stretch to it and like the specs. Or go down the catalog to a Mexican Standard Strat if pennies are tight: a very good option.

Or, if you are more determined to get a certain period vibe you need to look at the '50s and '60s reissues. Again, there's Mexican and American versions of those, depending upon your pocket.

One more option: the Classic Player Strats are a sort of period-meets-modern crossover instrument and very popular indeed, as well as being extremely keenly priced.

To the Products pages of this website with you! Let us know how you get along.

Cheers - C

Just don't let your wives know that you are talking to girls!

I think it's great having such a large UK contingent!

Hehe! The few girls I know were nearly all at my wedding, so I trust the boundaries are clearly understood by all concerned...

I remember that Brian May said he became a rockstar precisely because he couldn't dance and didn't know how to talk to girls. So he found something to do where he could have girls look at him without having to actually speak to them. Oh dear!

A Cyber-Twin is a thought worth considering.

It has been said a lot; Amp is half your (equipment) sound.

If I didn't spend any time talking to girls I'd have a lot more money to spend on guitars.... :)

Seriously, thanks for all the advice. The MIM Classic Player seems nice but I'd rather get a MIA if possible.... hence I was thinking that an American Vintage '57 Strat might be a good idea.

The way I see it is that I'm a terrible hoarder - I never get rid of anything. Hence I'm only going to want to buy one Strat, so it's got to be just right. Better off paying more in the first place rather than always wanting more....

I probably won't be able to afford it till next year sometime, but the Squier will do for now. :)

Haha! That's what you think! The Forum knows better...

You think you can handle it, but before you know it you're hooked. Enjoy!
