10:42 long. I'm not listening to all that, just to hear some fellah solo.

That band need editing.

Excess. Your undoubtedly right mate. My lack of patience has never allowed me to enjoy zep though.

I'm with ninja. I don't have the patience at my age to listen to solos that long, and I never could play 'em anyway.

Still love Zep after all these years and I still love this song . . . but it gets way too much airplay. I've been listening to it since it was new. That's about 35 years. For those who can't take the wait, the solo actually kicks off at about 6:30.

Freebird is another one that's just played to death. :x

Brings back memories. :) Playing guitar as a teenager in the seventies, you had to have jammed to Stairway To Heaven one time or another!

10:42 is short for a live Led Zep song.

I like zeppelin a lot (you can tell by my username) and the solo is awesome, but this is still my favorite solo:

I thought that song was great at the time and I've heard Page do some amazing solo's, I've got some Zep dvd's and probably all of their recordings. I have always been a big fan.
However I find that particular solo a bit messy, I think Page at times, can be guilty of playing his guitar faster than he actually can.

I am a huge TSRTS fan. As good as that solo is, the ones in No Quarter is even better. Also, this live '73 version of Dazed and Confused is a melt-your-face tour-de-force guitar clinic. Page was at the top of his game -73 to 76. He was good before and after this period, but that was the peak ... for sure.

It took me a long time, but I eventually learned it back when I was in high school. I can't get through the whole thing today. My brain cramps up and I can't remember what comes next.

It's a fantastic solo, but face melting no sorry.
But dont put me on the spot and ask me for a better one !!!!

On the subject of bands over doing it on stage went to see Black Stone Cherry on friday, the gig was absolutley superb - incredible energy from the band.

But about half way thro the drummer did a solo for about a couple of minutes - it was excellent. Then another couple of minutes and another couple of minutes by which time he had lost his sticks and was battering it out with hands and elbows. Technically top class but became a yawn. Quite a few murmurs of discontent from a crowd that was fully behind the band.

On a good note they all they stayed behind for an hour after the gig to meet anybody who wanted a chat.
