Hello,
I'm kinda new to the fender forums but I needed help picking out a new pedal since I recently got a new amp. My favorite band is The Who, and I would like a pedal that has a classic rock sound. Any one have any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

I use a Boss Blues Driver linked with a Holy Grail Reverb for a nice classic sound.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will definitely check those out. Also do you have to have a tube amp for the the tube screamer? Unfortunately I only have a solid state amp

hi, welcome to the group.
i just got a digitech screamin' blues overdrive/distortion. not too expensive, level, hi, low, and gain knobs to tweek it just right and automatically adjusts the grunge to how hard you're picking. i have a solid state amp too and i'm a happy guy (most of the time).

Must be OD season! :)

http://www.oldtonezone.com/ has a OD pedal shootout between 18 OD pedals and an OD pedal comparison applet so you can try to A/B them online.

The only real way to decide on one though is to go to the shops and try them out.

Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 . . . or the Boss Blues Driver. Both are good.

I always found a Danelectro Daddy-O was old skool but did the trick nicely. :)

+1 TS808 or TS9 reissues are great if you have the coin to drop. TS 7 are affordable and still very Classic Rock sounding.

I think I am going to go with a "Build Your Own Clone" project pedal. It looks like fun. Plus it will keep me out of trouble for a while! :)

No, that's just the name of the pedal.

No distortion pedals for me. And I love distortions. But to me they should happen within the amp. My favorite distortions have always come from tube amps with good tube preamps or cranked tube amps with the power tubes clipping. To me this is an important aspect of a good amp. There is nothing like the even order harmonics produced by clipping tubes
