I had the great fortune to be offered last minute tickets to see Ray Davies last night at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville.
Of course I accepted - how often does one get to spend the evening in a fairly small venue with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend?

Great show!! 90% of it was acoustic , similar to his Storyteller CD and tour of a few years ago- just Ray and another guitarist (Bill Shipley, I think he said) who occasionally pickup up a Gretsch as well.

Of course, he covered his last couple of solo efforts - Morphine Song, Working Man's Cafe, The Getaway (Lonesome Train).
But he also did the gamut of his songwriting career with the Kinks. Sure did jog some old brain cells here and some of my old favorites - Dead End Street, A Well Respected Man, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, Low Budget, Tired of Waiting for You, Sunny Afternoon, See My Friends, Where Have all the Good Times Gone, I'm Not Like Everyone Else, Celluloid Heroes....

Then the opening act (young kids - Locksley) joined him for a short set of Kinks jumping around - 20th Century Man, You Really Got Me, Lola, etc.

Like the doc says -- "Old guys rule".
